How are you planning on keeping the community 'classy'? Do you cross check every beta e-mail you receive with youtube and whomever has ever made a comment on said website is automatically disqualified? That would be dandy. Albeit, I haven't visited many game forums, for reasons I'll point out in a second, but it would be great to see one where the members are able to type all three keystrokes to properly spell the word 'you'.

Ideally I think with some positive reinforcement of the idea of a classy community could in itself help build a positive mind set for newcomers. Just because someone comes from a particular website/forum doesn't necessarily give us the right to prejudge that their presence here is undesirable. I think the term classy community shouldn't necessarily imply elitist community.

I got the idea that this community is 'Classy' because of the concept of the website, I guess everyone here has a common dislike for DRM and the way PC game market in general has been in recent years. This site is a place for people to come together and show greedy out of touch corporations that PC gaming is a viable business if they just did it right.
Agreed and amen. +1 rep daveyc

I pledge to do my part by not posting unless I'm wearing pants.
I'll be right back.
I would personally have to agree with daveyc, as the ones without class most likely wouldn't pay for games they could just download for free elsewhere. The rest of us have at least some respect and choose to own a legal legit copy.
I know what you mean though, I hope the forum stays intelligent and civil.
Not to mention you can rate posts and users here, somewhat keeping the community in check. While you can't really run off those that are there to cause trouble, you can check people's rep rating to see who is classy and who isn't.
I was being facetious. Obviously I'm not suggesting we start a youtube separatist movement, (or would it be a GOG separatist movement?) I was just trying to illustrate how the majority of comments you read on such websites are made without an ounce of intelligence of common sense. I can already see that I won't be disappointed by this community. While you disagree with my point, (at least, the one you thought I was trying to make) your argument against it never once suggested that I was homosexual and therefore my point was invalid. Good on ya.

This is just because right now they have an idiot filter.
You have to wait patiently for your email with the beta code.
Although, it doesn't catch all idiots, it does get most.
Once it goes live you'll have 12 year old kids signing up because 6.99 is cheaper than megaman 9 and mommy won't lend them the spare change.
I'm also going to say that posts don't have to be 100% content chock full to be entertaining.
Although, jokes do have to be well thought out (unless it's just a copy/pasta).
Personally, the community in my opinion is at it's highest. Once it goes public it will go downhill very steeply. Not saying it'll stay that way, but it most likely will.

Anyone can buy a cash card, that acts like a credit card that you can put cash onto.

I wasn't aware of this thing.
About the "classy" community... the future will tell us, I suppose... Anyway I don't think GoG's team will let its website falling. They'll react somehow, and I don't even know why this question has been asked. I mean, seriously we are aware that we all are acting "normally" here, so let's continue and not talk about it, it may tend to an inaccurate description of "normal": "elitist", like jecrell said.
The actual community is already self-moderating so I don't see the problem for now.

Yes, currently things are peachy. I figure the staff will probably get some moderators to handle it in the future, but currently I'm fairly pleased. Spend more time on the forums than playing my GoG.com games.. I'm at work most of the time and I have a ton of games I'm playing right now, and leading a social life...

crosscheck with youtube rofl... what is this that south park episode hahaha.
Well honestly I'd have to see it this way.. this website is for old games... a lot of the idiots on the net are teenagers who wouldnt care for games like this, so I doubt the community will ever go TOTALLy down the tubes.
but it IS the internet.
as for me, I wish I was told about this website earlier.
Its actually funny I was on the darkfall irc chatting and I typed " ya know why don't they have a website that offers old games that can run on our modern computers for a few bucks" and someone linked me to this website.
I will be looking forward to games coming down the pipe in the next few years and I hope that more publishers will join up and hundreds of games will be available.

I know it's a total waste going through that age thread, but
there is a good share of teenagers and 'youngin's'
I myself am only 21..
