What are your fav remade classic games? Be it official or fan made, please do share!
Here something to start the topic with:
http://retrospec.sgn.net/index.php ( a site dedicated to recreating long forgotten games such as Jet Set Willy, Head over Heels, Cybernoid, and many other long forgotten games.)
The Marathon series. A great series of first person shooters with an incredibly deep complex story of alien slavers, rampant AIs, reanimated battledroids and ancient creatures with the power to shake the universe. Through Bungie's compassion and fan devotion, these games which (for the most part) were Mac only, are now completely (and legally) free to download and available on PC, Mac, and Linux. Check them out (as well as a few fan made third party scenarios) at source.bungie.org.
I'm still in the process of playing Bionic Commando: Rearmed. However since I never played the original one back in the day either, I'm also playing through the ROM of that one first before I finish the remake.
Also if it isn't all just one big practical joke on everyone, I think Duke Nukem Forever will totally rock.
The VGA remakes for Q4G 1 and 2 :)

Yeah, Retrospec has a bunch of really good remakes. I especially love what they did with "Head over Heals"
Aside from them, I've been having fun with this Turrican inspired/clone/remake.

I've played that remake ( Turrican), it's certainly one the best quality fan remake i've ever played. Hmm, I need to get back to that game...

Open Transport Tycoon is an absolute must have for the transport tycoon fans out there. It essentially totally remakes the engine allowing it to run on modern systems brilliantly, whilst still using the resources from the original game.

Of course, if you don't have the original, you can't play this version either... Just a heads up to people who thought they would give it a try.
Just picked up the remake of King's Bounty a week ago, and I'm absolutely loving it so far.

Amen to this :)

I loved Hurrican - the Turrican remake - from the very first few minutes of gameplay. Large levels crammed with secrets, smooth and responsive controls, nice graphics, great music - everything that made the original games so much fun :). Add to that a level editor (with mod support), difficulty settings, and a cooperative mode and you get much, much fun :)
The website is here

Ultimate Ghosts'n Goblins, period.
Not really a remake and much more a sequel to the series but anyway....
Ultimate GnG, the King, the Knight, the Myth =)
I'd have to say one of my favourite remakes is Streets of Rage Remake.
It has all the best aspects of all 3 of the original games, excellently remixed music, and it isn't even complete yet (but still perfectly playable). There is still plenty of new enemies (remakes of ones from the 3 games and some new ones), a level editor. XD
You can get the game from here:

Well, the Retro Remakes blog, apparently run by the RR team, is an excellent source of freeware remakes news and home of the (mostly) annual retro remakes competition. Have a look here:

Settlers II - 10th anniversary edition
I absolutely loved the original version. Only the graphic changed, still the same as the old.
Openttd:
I love this one too, and everything was said before, so I just say I love it.
