Take a walk on the deadside!

Shadow Man, a remarkably dark and gripping action-adventure game based on the voodoo-filled comic book series, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours!

They say that magic of blood is the ultimate kind of magic. It pleases the mighty dark spirits of the Deadside, giving its user power that no human being should ever wield. But the human soul is easily corruptible by such temptations. There are always those, who would reach for the forbidden fruit. They will kill to taste it. They will kill again to keep it. But the Man of Shadows, the traveler between the worlds, stands guard. His destiny is to maintain balance between the Deadside and the Liveside. By the power of gruesome voodoo artifacts, he's implored to stop all strife--by any means necessary.

Shadow Man is a third-person perspective action game that will amaze you with its dark story and aesthetics. You will explore two overlapping worlds, held together by the power of eternal magic. The nonlinear gameplay will take you to numerous impressive locations with many terrifying enemies to defeat and clever puzzles to solve. If you enjoy action games with deep and unique setting, solid gameplay, and dark mood, you can't go wrong with this comic book-inspired classic!

Start your fascinating journey through the dark realms of bloody magic and madness in Shadow Man, for only $2.39 on GOG.com, today! The offer lasts until Tuesday, February 11, at 10:59AM GMT.

Impaler26: Are you threatening my wallet? o.O

*lol*
Drop it! Or your wallet gets it!
It's one of my favourite games, due to the size of the environment, the fact you can revisit almost every place (so you have not to spend hours in a single place to complete it), the fact you *must* revisit almost every place with stronger enemies everytime, and, overall, the atmosphere.

I suggest it to action gamers!
Not trying to cause GOG to lose sales, but, please, if you're inclined to buy this game, make sure you know what you're buying. It's not a bad game, by any means, but it left me quite disappointed, as I am a big fan of old action-adventure games and this one is not up to par with other classics of its time like, for example, the amazing Soul Reaver.

I found the mechanics to be very clunky, even for old game standards, the difficulty level of the fights is way higher than it needed to be and, last but definitely NOT least, that terrible, terrible, cringe-inducing constant gun sound effect. It *will* get on your nerves, trust me, especially given the amount of shots a single (lesser) enemy takes until they're dead.

The game is not without its merits, as the setting, ambiance, non-linearity, the sheer size of the world(s) and the premise all are great. It didn't age all that bad, if you grew up playing those kinds of games back in the day, but definitely isn't gorgeous. The graphics serve their purpose and convey the atmosphere pretty nicely. This is a game that doesn't hold your hand in the slightest, and though I welcome that, I understand some people may be turned off by that fact, so do bear that in mind. You'll have to figure out pretty much everything on your own, with minimum advice and guidance, and it's easy to get lost (both in the map and in your current goal). This is something I welcome and I feel it's a sad loss that recent video games suffered.

Now, if only the mechanics were a bit more fluid and fights weren't such a boring, repetitive, frustrating chore, while listening to that appalling gun sound effect over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (and over and over) again...
