Triple Thrill Pack!

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, a masterfully-crafted sequel bringing even more amusement park design options to the classic managerial sim series, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

Among the many building and managerial sims, this series truly shines. Building an amusement park from scratch, designing your ultimate ride, and making big bucks on the thrill-seekers that dare to ride it, is not only fun and challenging, but also lets your creativity run rampant! There's very little limitation to what deathtrap of a roller coaster you can construct, and what additional rides and booths you build around it. With countless original features that let you spice up your amusement park, there's simply nothing holding you back from becoming the entertainment tycoon you always knew you could be.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack is THE edition of this classic masterpiece you want to have in your collection. With over 150 rides and attractions, it gives you near limitless design options and challenges you with a plethora of pre-defined scenarios, which include running some of the most famous real-world parks. But that's not all--the GOG.com edition comes with a full high-quality 42-track soundtrack, so you can take that theme park excitement wherever you go.

For the next 24 hours, that's until Tuesday, February 12, at 10:59AM GMT, you can get RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 on GOG.com, for only $3.99, with no minimal height or maximum weight limit whatsoever!

dirtyharry50: This looks like fun. Is there any reason someone would want the first one with this one available? I guess for that matter, does the third one pretty much replace this one? I have no idea how similar they are to each other beyond maybe some minor tweaks to the formula and perhaps nicer graphics with each newer one?
1 and 2 are very similar, and close to, if not completely, identical graphicswise, althought 2 has more stuff and more designs.

That said, I prefer 1 over 2 by quite a large margin, as there are too many scenarios in the second where you're not allowed to charge for ride tickets, and have to get income only from park entrance fees.
Bought. I was hoping this would go on sale. I loved the first but never got the opportunity to play the second.

Thanks. I'll have to think about it I guess.

You don't have to. Zchinque is of course absolutely right - scenarios from the second one are a bit weird but there is perfect solution - RCT1 scenarios have been converted to RCT2 so can download and enjoy them without having RCT1. There were available on the official RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 site but since it doesn't exist anymore you can get them from other sites. Check out this thread
Really big gem.

Thank you very much! I grabbed the scenarios from both sources and will store them with the game I am about to go purchase now! :D

You guys are so awesome.

You are welcome. I really like playing RCT1 scenarios with RCT2 because it has new rides, shops and stuff like that. Cash Machine is worth to mention - it does make a difference - you can rob those pesky kids endlessly ;) Even if they spend all their pocket money ;) Just place few of them in strategic places.
I wonder if I can play this game. My laptop has 1,5 Ghz and 4GB RAM and only on-board graphics. Is this enough? The required 1,8 Ghz seems to be quite a lot regarding the age of the game. Can anybody help me out?

It runs just fine on my 1.6 ghz laptop. I think the processor requirement is a little inaccurate. I noticed RCT 3 also shows a 1.8 ghz as a requirement and it's much newer.

Is it 1.8? Hm. My laptop is 1.6 like Mike up there and it seems to run fine. My on-board graphics apparently only has 128 mb of dedicated memory (ffs) so I don't think it'll be a problem for you really.

tinyE: I'm tempted but I've heard this game is a lot of work. All I wanna do is design groovy coasters, not build and maintain an entire park, oy!
avatar
Zchinque: "Maintaining" the park isn't much work at all. If that's what you want to do, you can spend 95% of your time designing coasters, and still have a successful park.
If I'm not mistaken, in this game, and perhaps the first one as well: when you've built a really groovy roller-coaster you can then give it a name and save it to hd, and then use that particular design again as a blueprint in other scenarios and in sandbox mode, rather than having to build everything from scratch every time. Unless I'm thinking about some other game, was a long time ago since I played these games :)
Already own the trilogy, haven't even "finished" the first one (too many games to play :P).

Good buy anyway.
Yesssss!! They dropped the price! Everyone get it naow!!
Four bucks for such a great game is a ridiculously good value.

You're not mistaken. In fact, you can even import your RCT2 designs into RCT3. ;)
Now this is a true gem! I love this game.
