Sandboxes red with blood.

Far Cry 1 and Far Cry 2, the first two iterations of the 10-year old series of FPS games with versatile mechanics, huge worlds to explore, and realistic presentation creating a truly immersive experience, are available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.98 for both ($2.49 each) for the next 24 hours!

A tropical paradise seethes with hidden evil in [url=http://www.gog.com/game/far_cry]Far Cry, a cunningly detailed action shooter that pushed the boundaries of combat to shocking new levels.Freelance mariner Jack Carver is cursing the day he ever came to this island. A week ago, a brash female reporter named Valerie had offered him an incredible sum of cash to take her to this unspoiled paradise. Shortly after docking, however, Jack's boat was greeted by artillery fire from a mysterious militia group swarming about the island. With his boat destroyed, his money gone, and the gorgeous Valerie suddenly missing, Jack now finds himself facing an army of mercenaries amidst the wilds of the island, with nothing but a gun and his wits to survive. But the further he pushes into the lush jungle canopy, the stranger things become.

Far Cry 2, developed by Ubisoft Montreal, takes many of the great ideas from the previous game and improves upon them, making a pulse-pounding, high-speed shooter that roars through the beautiful, if sere, environments of Central Africa. With stunning visuals and deep gameplay, this game takes everything you liked about Far Cry and ramps it up to 11. You are a gun for hire, trapped in a war-torn African state, stricken with malaria and forced to make deals with corrupt warlords on both sides of the conflict in order to do what it takes to take down the Jackal, a dirty arms merchant who has made your new homeland a war-torn hell.

Played side by side, Far Cry 1 and Far Cry 2 will provide you with dozens of hours worth of stealth, action, explosions, tactics, and adrenaline rushes. Pick them both up for only $4.98, or either one of them for just $2.49! The 75% off Gem Promo discount lasts only until Tuesday, April 22, at 9:59AM GMT.
Well, to all those asking, if they should buy FC2:

Personally, I'd say: No!

See, I was forewarned by some reviews, so I bought FC2 during a Steam-Sale (it wasn't here on GOG, at that time).

That said, I didn't invest much money, but I still was disappointed, and did not feel, I got my money's worth back.

And, believe me - I really wanted to like the game.
But I just couldn't.

That has reasons:

- Respawning Enemies: Just to make clear, what we talk about here:
Clearing an outpost, leaving that outpost, remembering you forgot to collect something, returning to said outpost - et voila: all the enemies are back again...a mere two minutes, after you killed'em all and left that outpost abandoned.

Now, if that's your thing - go, get it.

- Wear and tear of Weapons: If all the weapons around the globe would wear off that quickly, we would live in a world of peace and harmony - because every time, someone would want to wage war, his armies would be more busy to clean and repair their weapons, than to ever actually kill someone with them.

Now, if that's your thing - go, get it.

- Malaria: The character you play has malaria. So you end up looking for treatment against this, throughout the entire game.

If that's your thing - go, get it.

- Long distances between the missions: You will spent more time behind the wheel of some car, driving around the country side, than in your average Racing-sim.

Exaggerating? -Well, maybe...but not too much.

If that's your thing - go, get it.

But - if none of the points above is your idea of fun - then steer clear of this game!

I am willing to concede, that I played the game only for five to six hours, so those things mentioned above might change during the game - but I don't believe so.

Oh, and as you can see on the post above - people will tell you, how nice the game looks...well, if the look of a game is more important to you, than its actual gameplay - go, get it.

Just my two cents, whether you like'em, or not.
Excellent classic gem promo! Already have both, but a great deal for those who do not.
Instabuy, thank you GOG !!
Have both. Now where's the third ? :D
Instagrabbed this time. :) I shouldn't have, as I already have a few hundred other games in my backlog... but hey, it's for a good cause.

Wow, those issues are terrible, expecially the insta-respawning!
I wonder if the previously suggested mod can transform FC2 in a great game..
Far Cry 2 is at last mine. I'd been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and feel like I've developed a good taste towards killing generic enemies in repetitive missions across an open world.

Hopefully Ubisoft can unlatch their grasp on Farycry 3 and Blooddragon to bring them DRM free eventually; one can wish...

The third one is unfortunately tied to uPlay, so it probably won't ever be on GoG... or at least not in the next few years.

tinyE: I already have these games. Can I use the discount for something else on Steam? :P
People are going to NOT get your sarcasm ... I thought it was funny...but someone else ...meh screw em.
Didn't have these DRM-free so, yeah, insta-buy :D

Actually if it's a noob that will bother me. As much as I love to be a dickhead, if I ever felt I drove business away from here I don't think I could handle that.

All of those things you listed are some of the reasons why i like the game.

And no visuals are not te most important, but FarCry3 was a downgrade compared to the previous. The setting was also dull, generic tropical island. Boring.

FarCry 2 is a unique game and miles better than its sequel.
This deal looks pretty cool, but I think GOG needs to fix the purple "GOG Gem Promo" button at the top. It's directing users to Far Cry 1, but it should direct users to the promo here:
