Clive Barker's Undying, a captivating horror FPS with a dark arcane story penned by one of the masters of terror, is available 60% off today, on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours!

There's an ancient realm hidden away from human sight behind the thin veil of what we call reality, and Clive Barker is its dedicated annalist. The outer dimension is much bigger than our own, filled with dark energies and entities, pushing against the curtain, looking for a way in. Sometimes, the veil gives way under the pressure, but it rarely does so without help from our side. Every now and then a human, insane or ignorant enough, will use some strange artifact, carve ancient runes in a doorway, or utter the blasphemous words of a forbidden ritual that was hidden away for ages in some dusty old book. That's how they get through to our side, and they did so from the beginning of time. It's people like Mr. Barker who keep track of the breaches, record the events, and try to bring the truth out in the daylight. In books, movies, graphic novels--the gospel of darkness spreads. This game, just as well, is more than just a work of fiction. It's a warning.

Clive Barker's Undying, delivers one of the most wicked tales of occult terror right onto our computer screens, in the form of a story-driven first-person shooter. With a gallery of memorable characters and locations that will make chill run down your spine, it remains one of the most gripping horror games ever created. The old mansion that you'll be exploring for the better part of the game, is one of the most iconic places in the memories of many gamers, and its ghastly inhabitants surely still haunt their dreams. If you haven't yet experienced this terrifying gem of an FPS, be sure to grab it today.

Never ignore the unseen horror lurking behind the curtain separating us from insanity. Learn as much as you can about the other side in Clive Barker's Undying, for only $2.39 today, on GOG.com! The offer lasts until Tuesday, July 16, at 9:59AM GMT.
I remember playing either a borrowed copy or the demo of this game back when it was released.
I was in my early 20's and this game still managed to feel creepy to me. Probably the last game that I found "scary".
Not sure how well it fares now, but back then it felt awesome.

merow: Hmm, without graphic mods its a little too outdated Im afraid... I know graphics isnt evrything but 3D from before 2003 arent working for me anymore...

G-Doc: I'd suggest you take a look at the gamepage and see if the screenshots seem appealing to you. Our build of the game uses nGlide, so what you get is pretty high-res. Looks very nice if you ask me, but I won't argue your personal taste :-)
Still works with Direct3d like the vanilla version? Damn you Gog..even with a Steam Sale..you know how to get us ; p

Crosmando: GOG's version of Undying uses Glide 3dfx-mode as default though, will that work with that?
No, nGlide always forces original aspect ratio but I tried with it and it didn't work, either some graphical issue or the game froze, I can't remember.

If you want to take advantage of the increased IQ with nGlide you can run 4:3 version of your widescreen resolution (e.g 1440x1080 of 1920x1080), that's the highest you can go without the journal issue as far as I know.

There are people here without this game who are going to pass this deal up. Those people are what I like to call "stupid". :D
While it does show glimpses of something great, Undying's a pretty average and ultimately disappointing experience, as far as I'm concerned...
Sure, it does have a great atmosphere, it's occasionally scary and the slowly unraveling story can be pretty captivating at times. On the other hand, the level design is simply abysmal, the combat is neither fun nor satisfying (yet the sections that force you to obliterate hordes of demons drag on and on), it gets boring and tiring rather quickly and to make matters worse, the game takes a nosedive in overall quality approximately halfway through.

hey...
Anyway, and a shameless plug for another Clive Barker game. Jericho is on sale on Steam right now, picked it up for £0.87, and it is a lot better than I expected. It has very good character and set design, and it is all very much Clive Barker design as in Hellraiser. The game mechanics are very well implemented (except for Delgado's fire demon...), and it is the only single player shooter I can think of right now where the team mechanic makes sense.

Anyway, Undying is also nice :)
Very nice and creepy game. Sure, it's not a glossy high-speed FPS, but it doesn't want to be. Take your time, revel in the atmosphere and find out, what dark horrors that unfortunate family of your friend is hiding.

If you don't have this game already and like creepy games, I strongly recommend to get it now.

Not really a problem, since nglide only outputs in 4:3.

You guys should look at Messiah with nGlide, I couldn't get your version working without it, although its still a little glitchy especially with sound, but I think you should give people the option, you don't even include the 3DFX executable out of the box for some reason

*prod, prod*

xxxIndyxxx: aargh stop it with the great deals, my wallet is crying right now. You do know about the steam deals right? I can't take this ;) :) ;)
Yeah and all the spiderweb games in the Humble weekly Sale!

I just got Jericho from the Steam sale too, I think I'll have to pick this one up though...

Crap, was this game in promo during the promo? At the same price?

I hope it is because I bought it there, haven't taken the time to play a lot of it but it seems deliciously old school. :D
