I've been doing a quick search in the General Discussion forum and didn't immediately see a similar thread so here goes...

GOG already has a lot of good old classic games available for us to buy, but I guess we all agree there could be more. I've no idea what the criteria for new old games on GOG usually is, but I'd like to propose a couple of titles which I really would like to be able to (re)buy on GOG.

Let me start with a couple of titles apart from such obvious titles as System Shock 1 and System Shock 2... :)

Clive Barker's Undying really wowed back in 2001. What a spooky affair. Even though it's more action-based it kind of reminded me of Realms of the Haunting. The huge old mansion and exotic out-of-this world locations like Oneiros. Great music, too. Oh, and Clive Barker!

Terminator: Future Shock and Terminator: SkyNet are two old and almost forgotten gems from Bethesda. They don't even list them on their own website. Great story, great ambience, and generally both games are some of the best movie-based games I've ever played. Also, they hooked me on that nasty habit of only being able to play with an inverted Y-axis. Grrrr... :)

The link to the Wishlist is cunningly hidden in the 'Welcome, please read !" sticky

Oooh... Haven't seen this before. Thanks for pointing it out to me. :)

Well, voted for the three titles I mentioned above. But I can see they're not that popular, so I'm not holding my breath.

Those numbers don't mean much anyway. GOG staff usually just takes what they get, since they rarely get a lot because a lot of publishers are still sceptical about the whole DRM-free thing. Hopefully this will start to change dramatically any time soon.
Doc! C'mon Doc! I need my daily dose!

Ahh...much better now...

I loved Clive Barker's Undying. That was a great game! I would purchase that one immediately if it was to become available on GOG.

To be fair that pic is sort of an in joke here now among the regulars. He was just messin with ya. :)

BTW welcome to the GOG forums and all that rot.

(Also not to rain on your parade but the SS games are very hard for GOG to get due to several people holding the rights for them. I wish it weren't true but that's how it is. GOG IS trying to work on getting them though, and has one of the rights holders on board and releasing some of their games though, so we can hope right? :)...)

Apart from that, I have another standard post for these situations:

Here's the sort of "standard answer" from the GOG Community FAQ:

Please add *insert game/publisher here* to the GOG library!
GOG has a handy dandy that you can use to post your requests for games on GOG. Just make sure you search the wishlist to see if anyone else has already added the game you want and if they have, vote for it instead of creating a new entry. Additionally, if you wish to simply discuss the games you want to see on GOG, you can post in the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/official_beg_thread_this_game_belongs_on_gog]Official Beg Thread: "This Game Belongs on GOG!".

Will you be adding *insert game/publisher here* to the GOG library?
GOG does not release specific information on prospective games or publishers until they already have agreements in place. They will not comment specifically on who or what they are trying to get, only what they do have (though they do occasionally drop cryptic hints about upcoming releases). Check the site's main page for news on what is coming soon, it gets updated every Tuesday and/or Thursday. Also, Delixe has created an excellent Publishers not on GOG and will they be? thread where the odds/pros and cons of many publishers coming to GOG are discussed.
Welcome to GOG. I hope you'll enjoy it here :-)

I know he was just messing with me. Also, I've been around GOG long enough (albeit not in the forum) so as not to put SS1 and SS2 on my "wishlist". Well, they are on _my_ wishlist, but not as such on the wishlist I was presenting here, hence the "obvious titles such as..." bit. :)

Luckily I own all the mentioned titles on disc already, including SS1 and SS2. I'd just love to have them available on GOG. Mainly because the GOG crew goes to extreme lengths to get older games running on new hard- and software.

And thanks for the welcome to the forum. :)
I wish we could get Shadow Warrior here as one person mentioned in my other thread. Maybe then if enough people got interested in the game again on newer OSs the mod community would finish the high res pack for it like they're currently doing for Duke Nukem 3D.

And lol I didn't see the date you joined and just thought "Here's another guy asking for older games to come to gog....must be a newcomer...etc" without checking. My bad. :)
I'm starting to feel that the "Please add" thread and associated grilling is something of a rite of passage on the forums here! I know my first post was one :/

<SNIP>

Welcome to GOG. I hope you'll enjoy it here :-)
Like I just wrote in my previous post I specifically wasn't putting the System Shock series forward on my wishlist, but merely mentioned them as "obvious" given that so many people on GOG request them. :)

Also thanks to you for the welcome. :)

I do think that wishlist link could be placed in a more dominant position. Say, on the main page for instance. Or as a tab in one's account. Most people read welcome stickies about as often as they read manuals. :p

(This forum software is lacking a multi-quote function, isn't it...?)

It is. Most people do it (I did too, I think), and they all get some version of the "welcome wagon". It's usually good-natured, and as you say, a rite of passage :-)

And because this isn't the steam forum, almost no sodomy to speak of.
