Waking Mars for only $1.99 + Tex Murphy Series, Simon the Sorcerer, and many more 70% off!

Waking Mars, an exploration-focused platformer in which you discover and tend to a robust ecosystem in Martian underground caves, celebrates its second anniversary. To cellebrate it, the game (which comes with the addition of full soundtrack) is available 80% off. That's only $1.99 for the entire week. It’s creators, a small indie team working under the label Tiger Style, were kind enough to answer a few of our questions about inspirations, game design, and the transition from AAA development into core indie scene. You can read the interview in GOG.com Blog.

Now, let's move on to our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/classic_adventures_weekend_promo_280214]Classic Adventure Cruise Weekend Promo with landmark adventure games available whole 70% off. You can stay in the Martian landscape for a little bit longer with Tex Murphy, the fedora-and-trenchcoat PI of the grim future. All of the classic adventure games with that fan-favorite character are available for $2.99 each, except for the first two bundled together for just $1.79. Or, if you prefer fantasy and comedy to Sci-Fi gloom and doom, you can't go wrong with Simon the Sorcerer, Simon the Sorcerer 2, and Simon the Sorcerer 3D This cherished series of adventure classics is known for its tongue-in-cheek humor, devious puzzles, and countless allusions to popular fantasy books, games, and movies. While the first two games use hand-crafted pixel-art graphics and a traditional point-and-click interface with clickable on-screen commands, the third one takes Simon’s misadventures into a 3D environment while retaining all (well, ok: most) of its predecessors’ charm. Put yourself in the pointy shoes of a young apprentice of wizardry for 70% off, this weekend only on GOG.com

That's just a small sample of the adventure lineup in Classic Adventure Cruise Weekend Promo, so make sure you visit the promo page and see what other gems can you get 70% off. The offer lasts until Tuesday, March 4, at 4:59AM GMT. The Waking Mars anniversary special lasts until Friday, March 7, at 10:59AM GMT.

JudasIscariot: We have stated this a few times:

We plan to bring in fair local pricing in local currencies such as the ones listed in the letter so that people who do not use the dollar and get hit by currency exchange fees can pay in their own currencies and not get hit by exchange fees or any other fees associated with paying in USD while not being in the US. Please do see our responses in the "letter from the M.D." thread by clicking on staff icon that brings up only staff posts.

Sorry for the thread derail, everyone.
And that wouldn't be such a problem if it were real "local currencies" and not just putting people into arbitrary buckets. So we have US, Switzerland = bucket 1, UK = bucket 2, AU = bucket 3, REST OF EUROPE, HALF OF AFRICA = bucket 4, Russia = bucket 5.

Jinxtah: Denmark doesn't use Euro or Pounds or Dollars so we get hit with conversion fees anyway.
However, your conversion rates are off, so there's really nothing fair about them. You can dress it up all you want, but you're still screwing your customers.
I was going to grab a few games from this sale, but I flat out refuse due to this fiasco. Granted losing me as a customer is not a huge deal, as I've only bought ~55 games here, but hopefully I'm not the only one walking away from gog in disgust until you come to your senses.
You aren't the only one. I'm going to enjoy the games that I have bought here and enjoy the community, but I'm not gonna buy anymore in this place until they get rid of regional pricing.

^Basically this.. though let's not derail this thread further.

phaolo: Can anyone exchange Serious Sam FE and Prince of Persia SoT from the last promo with something in this one?

About the discounted games, what do you think about these?
- broken sword 2,3,4 --> I loved the first (except for few ugly animations and a pair or bad puzzles); are these worth buying?
- lba 2 --> the first for me was average, clunky and difficult.. is this better?
- Atlantis 1,2,3 -> are all these really bad? They seem to share bad plot and puzzles
- Syberia 1,2 -> average reviews, maybe both open ended
Broken Sword 2 is great, I still have my CDs (which are probably pirated, bought them on a market about 15 years ago). The other 2 look a bit 3D for my taste, the controls are not as good.

Yes, let's keep the regional price discussions in the main (20+) threads, please.

EDIT: Thank you blotunga comrade (kinda) ;P

I dunno man, keeping quiet about it does nothing. Allowing them to sweep this one under the rug is worse than derailing threads.
It's a hot issue, and very important to customers. I think it's fair to post about it, as it was an employee who opened the door to the discussion in this thread.

I agree wholeheartedly and am one of the most vocal opponent of the changes. However we should keep that discussion in the other threads, here we should discuss about the adventure games.
BTW, how much does Simon 3D suck. Is it really that bad?

20+ threads is not "quiet".

Yeah, because obviously someone missed something in the 7000+ other posts on the subject.

gandalf.nho: How's the difficulty of the Twinsen games, especially for non-adventure fans?
The first one has a widely-hated checkpoint-esque saving system (it's hard to explain... which is one of the reasons it's hated), in which you have to muck about with copying and deleting files to get a reload that restores the health you had when you made the save. The second lets you save entirely at will, making things easier but less inconvenient. (Also, in the second you no longer take damage from running into walls.) You might consider getting the second one, and the first in some future sale if you like the second (you'll have a few confusing moments when 'familiar' characters turn up, but nothing major).
Lot of adventures games, dunno what to buy first:)
Currently finishing Syberia II. Maybe it's time to start with Broken Sword series. Or for first time try Little big adventures? Or go outside drink draught beer? I'm so undecided ^^
Excellent promo anyway.

This was useful for me too, thanks.
The first has very weird controls and save system indeed.
I died so many times and rage quitted in the big city.. anyway, I'll have to finish it someday!

Cool promo - I hope people can try out the Tex Murphy games in anticipation of Tesla Effect! :)

I don't know the number of threads, as I haven't seen the forums for a while. So yes on the frontpage there are 2 threads regarding this. It's only a matter of time before it's out of the spotlight and common practice, so not speaking up whenever you get an opportunity, is a mistake.
I don't care if there are a million posts or 2 posts. I, as a customer, am speaking up against this since an employee opened the door for it by bringing it into this thread. You're American, so you're not getting screwed over here, but understand we're not all happy little fanboys over this issue, and I don't think they particularly need you to rush to their aid with your white knighting abilities to downplay it for them.

Great promo! As adventure is one of my preferred genres, I already have most of it. But since more languages were recently added to Simon the Sorcerer 1 + 2, I have the reason to buy them here.

Yeah, I'm generally not affected by rape or gay marriage either so obviously I'm not allowed to have opinions on that, right?

We don't need you to drag the horse into every release/promo thread for another round of beating.

You don't seem to understand.. many of us agree with you, but you're just in the wrong place!
You need to check those threads about that topic!
