They just had a massive glitch and needed to restart the whole thing right when I tuned in!
Right before that they said pollution and such was taken out? Wasn't that included in the PC Gamer review? They seem to be removing a lot of things.

Well they lost a bunch of people recently, that might explain it.

The actual line is something like "we threw out the random events because players felt they were the computer cheating" included in that list was pollution and volcanic eruptions. Watching the playthrough actually moved me from a wait and see to a preorder*
*actually that was the misses going "theres a new civ out?? you've pre-ordered it already right????"

No more thick manual for Civ... I was kinda looking forward to the manual. They could have at least put it into the CE. Quote from the forums:
We’ve made the formerly 200+ page printed manual an improved interactive PDF. This PDF manual allows you to click on screenshots to see them clearer than thumbnails, navigate much easier with clickable links, and most importantly, look forward to manual updates as we make changes to the game. But don’t take my word for it; I have a sample of the manual for you to check out: Click here to see the sample. Included in the retail copies is a small quick-start manual to get you up and running as quickly as possible.
All Mafia 2 had was 3 pages with the controls and license agreement. 2K is going the Ubisoft "no manual" route I guess.
Game publishers just love digital distribution!
Sorry, but the days of boxes are done. I thought I was going to live and die by the box, but then stuff like GOG came around, so...

If there had been a manual, would you really have needed to read it? Sure it's NICE, but given that by now everyone knows how to play Civ more or less, and that new players will manage nicely with the tutorial/Civlopedia, I don't see this complaint as being particularly meaningful.

Well that's your perspective, but I like manuals and do read them.

Same, but it's not a requirement. I don't mind paying extra for a collector's edition with a paper manual or something, but I don't insist that every release of every game include a thick manual.
Pre-load is available now for pre-orders. Downloading it now.

I have a choice to either buy this retail for $50, one of the greatest game series ever with no fancy extras or go see a concert for a bunch of people I've been wanting to see live for like, ever. Decisions, decisions.
It sucks there's no proper manual but really cool at least they're putting lots of effort into a digital one and acting on the advantages of digital.

Also, the Civilopedia is HUGE. And it has built-in text search, too, so even if you skip the manual, you should have everything you need in-game.
