If you watched the video you linked and had understood its message, then how about unblocking me - at least for Christmas Day? That would be a great gesture.
Don't you see the parallels: By keeping me blocked due to one single petty disagreement from several months ago, you're acting like the guy who would not climb up from the trenches to play football with the opposing side. How about walking the walk and let bygones be bygones, I've tried to reach out to you before on more than one occasion but it takes two hands to clap. This could be a nice occasion for us to make peace, permanently if possible. So in the spirit of Christmas and your OP let's make it happen, it's not about fake friendliness but putting aside needless dissent.

As much as I believe that war is not shameful and that war is sometimes necessary and beneficial (look at technological advances thanks to war like the jet airplane), the Christmas truce was inspirational even though it was about a select group of soldiers from both sides of the war. The chances of a Christmas truce between British troops and Ottoman Imperial troops would have been none.
I can't say that I liked the video since it was basically ignoring reality with the reality being not just the beneficial effects of war (technology and political freedoms) but also the fact that even if you are not at war against someone doesn't mean that same person is not at war against you. People cannot just sit on their hands as their rights are getting violated and their people are targeted for extermination.
I will say that the next war in Europe should be one waged to save the European people and their cultures from those who would have them bred out and their cultures destroyed.

how about you leave me to unblock youby myself - when i fell its time, instead of winding me up and keeping you blocked?
by now I would have figured you'd have gotten the message.
I block people until they stop pissing me off - ironically, everytime I think about unblocking you, you piss me off again by pulling a "public stunt" such as this.
"Let time pass and people calm down" is also a lesson.
Not 100% sure what you mean - could you clarify a little?

This is great, a beautiful thread about Christmas has turned into a debate over ethnic cleansing. :D

Anyways, apart from the ethnic cleansing proposition. I remember a movie where the climax in the end was exactly this truce, but can't remember the name.

I have q peruvian rug... would you kindly give it a clean?

Anyway to interject a tad bit of humor, I love this WWI headline from The Onion:
'WAR ENDS AS ARCHDUKE FRANZ FERDINAND IS FOUND ALIVE'

If after the things you said back in August you feel that it is your place to teach me a lesson instead of both of us putting that story behind us, then you don't understand what the Christmas story in the OP of this thread is all about, nor how two grownups resolve matters in a constructive way.
I believe in addressing and solving problems between people as soon as feasible and not letting it stew because resentment can grow instead of dissipate.
The first time I brought this up was one entire month after the argument, so I did wait. If you need more than one month to calm down after having thrown insults at me (non jokingly) and blocking me the same day, then it must be something within yourself that's holding you back from making peace. Perhaps you think of yourself as a pillar of this community and don't want to "lose face" by accepting a peace offer made by a newer member, however I can assure you that no one would think less of you if you agreed to make up. In fact, I guarantee you'll get more respect for it.
If I can manage to extend my hand to someone who insulted me, maybe you can do the same and meet me halfway.
The decision is ultimately yours but you can't blame me for trying to be a good sport about it and actively trying to expel bad blood. If you see this as an attempt to piss you off then that's unfortunate because that is not the case.
You're a fellow member in this place and while we don't have to agree and everything (or anything), I see it as my duty to try and get along and fix things when getting along occasionally fails. Actively trying, not passively by sitting around and waiting possibly forever.

From what I understand most of men on the front lines did not expect the war to drag on to Christmas. It's a shame that the war would go on another 3 years.

Thanks for that - added it to my list of movies to see.
