Like the cheap bastard i am i bought it for $0.01 :P
Life as a student, ain't it grand LOL
This is getting ridiculous...
So, made the donation, got an email confirming the donation. Great.
How do i download the game ? Wasn't i supposed to get an email from 2D Boy with a link or something ?
I couldn't even get onto the website earlier today, so I'm going to wait until later in the week. Hopefully in a couple of days things will be calmer!

Faithful: You know what is amazing, is I put a post in the forums that I own the Steam version of the game and wanted to know if I could convert it over to a stand alone version of the game, or simply get a discount on an additional full copy of the game.
I never even received a reply, and now they offer the game for whatever you want to pay; blah. At this point I am inclined to think it is worth nearly nothing since I already bought it and could not even get a single response to my post.

Maybe because it's been asked many many times... you may find *somewhat* of an answer here in the FAQ. This is for a full Linux version, but you may be able to use the same principles to create a Steam-free Windows version.
Yeah, bought it about 2 hours ago. To be honest, I am not that bothered waiting a bit for the DL link to arrive. It's not surprising that something like this would happen.

evilguy12: Bought it, but the servers have crashed so I can't download it. Gee, never knew the demand for this game was so high. £20 (the RRP in the UK) though is pretty damn expensive...I mean that's $30.

Same thing happened to me. When I initially was "awakened" to Steam's true nature, i was right in the middle of playing WOG.
I emailed them asking for a discount since I wanted to "get clear" of Steam....no reply.

Not sure they heard it too much, but I was willing to buy it again and only wanted to know if I could get a coupon for a bit off the full price.
Well, I bought it for $5.00 since I have already bought it once before so no issue any longer. I just hope I can get it downloaded some time soon!
Hopefully they track the prices people will pay. I'm very interested in these types of social experiments.
As for the game, it's well worth $20, everything is polished and the concept is very fun.

Quick question. Are you the Johnman from DF? If not, nevermind.
Also, I got World of Goo, and I was seriously missing out...

As an experiment, I think the variables and results with resemble the "tragedy of the commons" in many ways. I expect sub-Radiohead results on this.

I'd contend that whatever the result are it's a major win for the developers of the game. Most of the people who thought the game was worth the retail price have likely bought it by this point; any money brought in through this sale is in all likelihood money that the developers wouldn't have seen otherwise. Even if people only pay 1 cent that's 1 cent the developers wouldn't have otherwise gotten. And in addition to the money brought in by the sale it also gives the game a large amount of free publicity that will likely drive further sales once the game goes back to traditional pricing. Overall it looks like an incredibly savvy move by the folks at 2DBoy.

Perhaps, which is likely the intention of the sale. However, I still think the mean will be at most $1.50-$2.00. I think staggered price drops are a great idea in PC gaming...even Derek Smart has a great philosophy:
Once a game has gone beyond it's "shelf life", he puts it up on his website for FREE.
Companies like Activision are clueless.
I tried the demo on Steam and I liked it a lot. I was just waiting for a sale on Steam but this is so much better. Thanks for spreading the news because otherwise I would have missed it.
Great what a bargain 1$ =)
1.00 USD spent.
If i had more money i would be more sporting and donate upwards of 10 USD but i dont : (
I will refure to people that otherwise wouldent be ordering it in a hope that someway makes up for me :P
