Choose Your Own Adventure books were the beginning of my descent into roleplaying games. From there I swiftly transitioned to other gamebooks such as Tunnels & Trolls, Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf. Once I got my first shiny brand new copy of Dungeons & Dragons: Basic edition I didn't look back. That coincided with playing CRPGs.

With that said, I'm exhausted after little sleep, feeling foggy and am in need of a hand with my decision making process for the day. So I'm calling on you guys to help me out here :)

You awake feeling exhausted. Work is cancelled thanks to your caring employer realising that it might be a little dangerous to get on a wet roof to clean the gutters with a broken hand on the mend. Your usual wake up routine of caffeine and pumping dance music is not working to counter the sedatives you took last night. Action is required!

Do you:

a/ Grab the skipping rope for the first time in years and see how uncoordinated you are
b/ Go straight to the punching bag to work elbows and knees
c/ Walk to the shops taking a random route guided by intuition

I will undertake the action of the first response and write the next 'page' when the action is completed :)

Tape that hand!
I freaking LOVED the Choose Your Own Adventure books, and I devoured every CYOA-type book I could find! I was in love with the Dungeons and Dragons CYOA books when I got them early one Christmas morning ♥ I still have them after all these years! lol~!

I hope that you were careful not to re-injure your hand! (Tarnicus really did break his hand in real life!)
Sooooo... You went to the punching bag with a broken hand? I'm not sure which is scarier, the lack of "free will" or the fact that the evil monkey wanted to see you hit a punching bag with a broken hand. lol

Still an interesting post. Makes me recall an old D&D DVD I have called "Scourge of Worlds". Same basis as the adventure books, but played out in CG movie form. You watch the story up to a point then decide the next path and the story progresses, or you die.

I read that as tap that hand.
Let's hope you don't encounter any deadly monsters on the way.

My response is A. Grab the jumping rope. This exercise is the best out of all the others, I think. It should wake someone up fast.

So did I waaayy back many long years ago. One of the things I loved most about the Infocom games was how much they reminded me of them, but improved! IF Adventures were much longer with many more possible endings.

:D

I guess we'll have to wait to hear if Tarnicus' punching bag sleepyhead cure was effective
