timppu: What about the reports how Steam use(d) to hike some prices just before applying the discount, in order to show a bigger discount percentage? I haven't followed Steam prices to see if there is any truth to those claims, but I think there was some discussion about that here in GOG.
What about the reports that timppu eats corpses? I haven't followed him personally to see if there is any truth to those claims, but I think there was some discussion about that here in GOG.

See how dishonest your argument is?

timppu: Also, does Steam apply the 80% discounts also to their cheaper $6-10 games, which are the price points of all GOG games? It is easier to give big discounts to games which still list the original $50-60 price point, even if the retail price of the game has already plummeted.
Yes, it does. Seriously, people, at least take a glance at the catalogue before you start typing.

Roman5: GOG is indeed not Steam, however Steam and GOG ARE competitors in one way or another

your posts do not give an excuse for Steam to outshine GOG in some parts and for the GOG staff to do nothing about it

This years Steam christmas sales were amazing, 60-80%, including daily deals with massive discounts.

Why can't GOG do something like this? yeah I understand that GOG isn't as big as Steam but that does not excuse them
Maybe because even with 80% , 90% off on steam most of the games cost around 5 euros anyway?

Do not look at the percentage, look at prices. 3 bucks and 5 bucks is too much for you? Sorry to hear that.

Clearly a man of fine taste!

50p is like 1/10 of a pint of beer. And you save brain cells.
Sooo London or Edinburgh? Here 50p is less than 1/5th of the cost of a pint... hell even a pint of guiness or good real ale!

In terms of business? maybe, yes, they both are selling games
in terms of ideology? no, they selling games in quite different ways, and that's more important to me
If you're waiting for the game to be more than 50%, you'll have to wait for it to appear on the twice-a-month discount, where they discount a game, or a small handful of games. Which means...hmm...IF GOG has permission to do the sale, and IF they happen to pick the game for the sale, you might see it within a few years.

Or, y'know, you could shell out an extra dollar and play it now. You'd have to skip that half a soda, tho! :D
I already bought Sanitarium .... sooo I dont really care !! Mwah ha ha ! :p

I've played the game with my friend some time ago, and except chapter 1 and 2 it was horrible, so I don't care too!

It's like they ran out of ideas and money after, well, let's say circuss chapter and they through everything what was rejected before to that game.

Not to mention horribly silly ending.
I believe it was 60% off at 4$ on a special consecutive daily sale around summer this year after the interplay.

Yep. I regretted getting it then, but I got it later.

Nice :D
Though in timppu's defense, I think timppu might be referring to Steam's package discounts being listed as a percentage off of its individual item's prices rather than the package's normal price. (Though this isn't price hiking as timppu says, so this might not be what timppu means.)

London. Actually it's possible to get a decent pint for just over 2 pounds in Samuel Smith pubs, but imported lager from the tap is 4-5 quid.
Steam is also twatty over regional pricing, so usually their over 50% deals end up more expensive than 50% on GOG.

Unless you're in America.

Quick search shows it was 30% off on July 2010, 50% off on March 2010 and 60% off this summer (on the 8th of July).
