This should probably be in one of the begging threads, but it's an idea that could be modified to work elsewhere.
I was browsing mobygames the other day, and I stumbled upon something called "Help! Charity Compilation". Basically it's just a collection of DOS games where the profits went towards child charities.
Now, I know it might be VERY hard to get the rights for these exact games, however, I still think it might be possible to get a charity compilation on gog.com.
A lot of the currently signed publishers have smaller games that individually wouldn't fit in the $5.99 price-range, however, if you grouped several of those games together I think they could become quite the interesting collection of little gems.
And the idea of the profits going to various charities is awesome, and quite good for publicity as well...
I've added the "Help! Charity Compilation" to the wanted list, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on this idea.

Wow! Never knew it existed!
Soemthing on gog.com for a good cause would be good
Somehow I doubt the publishers in that pack would agree on being sold together in one package... apparently they did back then when they were smaller, but EA and Ubisoft will surely have a hard time accepting a deal together nowadays.
I think it would be more likely that GOG could strike a deal with a publisher to donate all profits from their catalogue for a set period. This would most likely be for a certain cause like the recent earthquakes. That's about the most realistic option I can think of.

Good idea! PopCap did that recently. Do You, or anyone know, if their action was successful?

That's what gave me the idea. Popcap are pretty successful, so I'm sure their efforts weren't in vain. But I've got no idea how much money they actually made.

According to their email: We sent over $85,000 to help Haiti!

Not bad!

Indeed. And that was only in 24 hours!

Bloody hell! That is impressive. It gives you some idea of their actual turnover too. Popcap aren't doing badly for themselves.
But they do those time-limited deals all the time, wouldn't it be more interesting if you had a permanent collection which changed charities once in a while? And then make the package out of smaller games from the already signed publishers?
How about something like this:
Activision: The Incredible Toon Machine/King's Quest 1/You Don't Know Jack/Ceasar 1/Atari 2600 Action Pack/Return to Zork
Ubisoft: Prince of Persia (1989)/Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?/1503 A.D.
Interplay: Atomic Bomberman/Dragon Wars
Codemasters: Fantasy Wold Dizzy/Magicland Dizzy/Micro Machines
Epic: Jill of the Jungle/Jazz Jackrabbit/ZZT/Super ZZT
and a few more from various other developers/publishers?
I very much like this idea. I rarely give to charity because of the way the money gets distributed (30%+ of all money donated for African charities goes towards bribes for example) but if you get something in return and are expected to pay a little more, it doesn't seem such a bad deal.
Very good Idea - I would buy the bundle(s) and even gift some, especially for a good cause.
