Hey guys, I usually don't make this sort of threads but this time I couldn't help it.
My (seemingly) favorite racing game - Moto Racer 2 - just appeared on DotEmu. But being me, I always try to keep my games in one place so I thought I'd ask you.
Now that it's on DotEmu, how high do you think the chances are of this game coming to GoG soon?
Cheers!
I want the first game here too.
I fell in love with the 2nd during my childhood.
And I want a lot of games on Gog :)
But the question is - what are the REAL chances of it getting here?
The chances of that game coming to GOG are the same as they are for any other game. Having the title available on another service really does nothing to change that. You want to do something that might improve the chances, don't bother wasting forum bandwidth with a thread all about it, just vote for it on the wishlist (though I honestly don't think it will really make a difference).
Cogadh, if I remember well, GoG has at least a few games from DotEmu, they have some sort of connection.
I just want to know what state that connection is in now.
Hard for any us to say, though I don't think that DotEmu have released anything on GOG after they created their own service. Besides, the game showed up on DotEmu through a deal between them and Nobilis, so GOG would no doubt have to make their own deal with Nobilis to get it here.
I notice that DotEmu also released an updated version of Raptor this week.

Raptor 2010 is also available on GG. I am very tempted since I LOVED the original, it was the only of its type I kept playing over and over again.
Raptor? Pardon my ignorance but it seems a bit R-Type-ish to me. Am I wrong?
Also, those of you who have used DotEmu, do you think (or know if) Moto Racer 2 actually works like it's supposed to on newer OSs?
I know they say it works with x64 Windows but I'm just wondering how you guys rate their service.

Also can anyone confirm are their games drm protected or drm free as it says without drm on the game listings ?

It is a shoot em up, so in that respect yes. You earn money by destroying stuff and by finishing misisons which you can then invest in weapons between missions.
Very good graphics and animation when it was released and excellent sound effects.
The gameplay was superb with difficulty settings and your pilot having a career you can use over and over on new games etc.
It's one of the best games of its type. What's better is that it doesn't try to play unfair so that you have to have some super weapon etc.
Raptor was good, but I've always preferred Tyrian. It's much superior in every conceivable way and has extremely addictive gameplay. There's also a semi-active mod community for it. Very highly recommended.

GOG and DotEmu have absolutely no connection at all. Just because a game appears on one service has nothing to do with it appearing on another, it just means that both services inked a deal with the game's rights holder. For example, I believe both services have Broken Sword 2. That doesn't mean there is anything resembling a connection between the two, it just means they both made similar, but separate, deals with Revolution Software to sell the game, nothing more.

Oh man, I just remembered U.N. Squadron! I used to like that too. Not sure if there was a PC version though, I had it on the ST.
@cogadh:
Once again, wrong. They used to have a connection (DotEmu patched some games for GoG or something like that) so you can't say there is absolutely none. DotEmu might have gone more independent after reanimating their website, though.
Where are you getting your information from? DotEmu's only connection to GOG is that they were the publisher of record on three of the games in GOG's catalog, nothing more. They didn't patch anything specifically for GOG, they don't work with or for GOG and their role as publisher on those titles has absolutely nothing to do with DotEmu's digital distribution service or the game you were asking about in the first place, Moto Racer 2 (which was developed by Delphine and published by EA and Nobilis). You are seeing a connection where one does not exist and what little connection that does exist is not the kind of connection you think it is.
If DotEmu were the publisher of Moto Racer 2, then maybe the fact that GOG had distributed DotEmu published titles before might increase the odds of GOG getting this title eventually, but that is not the case here. DotEmu is not the publisher or developer of the title, they are only a consumer-level distributor; in actuality a direct competitor to GOG. DotEmu obviously worked out a deal with Nobilis and/or EA to sell the game. GOG does not currently have a deal in place with either of those publishers. Combine that with the fact that DotEmu's distribution of the game does not affect GOG's ability to sell the game at all and we are right back where we were at the start of this thread: the odds/chances of Moto Racer 2 coming to GOG are no better or worse than any other game and they are no better or worse now than they were before DotEmu began selling the game.
