This (was) the last day of Hanukkah and the eve of Christmas, I've recently made it to 1111 days on Gog and not long ago got my second star, so seems like a good time to hold my long due giveaway :)

I love Christmas! I would say that it was my Mother who really made Christmas special for us. (Of course back then Dad paid for everything!) I remember getting up Christmas morning and coming out to see all the gifts under the tree. There was always a couple of books not wrapped for each child and we would all love to see what we, and the others, got. It was all about being together as a family and enjoying the music, the tv specials, midnight church service, etc.

I have tried to make Christmas special for my children as they grew up so they would keep the magic of Christmas going and pass it on to the next generation.

That's what I love about it! I don't celebrate it, but game stores have sales and it's a good excuse to buy myself more stuff than usual.

I'm tempted by Cognition. Don't really want anything else from that Indie Gala bundle. Not that I'd play Cognition any time soon, but I have episodes 1,2 in my collection, and they feel a bit lonely.

Ah okay... Christmas something or other... :-) here goes:

Just got done watching the 1938 version of "A Christmas Carol". That is the first time I have seen that incarnation of the story. The ones I tend to see most are "Scrooged" (with Bill Murray, usually because it happens to be on TV at the time) or "Mickey's Christmas Carol" (which I believe I own on DVD and is my favorite version, probably because of the characters and it is the first version I ever saw). Tempted to go check now to see if I have it and play it later after I return from visiting the aunt's.

The other big Christmas movie for me is of course "Christmas Vacation". Watched it last night with my Mom (we try to make it an annual tradition). Sometimes I am still amazed that despite knowing the story and the lines some of those scenes have me laughing. I think what makes me laugh more is when my Mom finds them funny - I tend to get more enjoyment out of watching it when that happens, whether I laugh myself or not.

I´m personally more attached to NewYear than Christmas. But I do like the contrast, as Chistmas is more Family-orientated, whilst NewYear/Sylvester is (at least for me) focused on (local) friends!
Christmas is lazy, whilst NewYear is full of energy. On christmas I just enjoy exchanging gifts, whilst on Sylvester I´ve got to think about what will be in the next year!
