Tychoxi: why not?? As long as it's made clear, I don't see the problem. Furthermore, it's not like AAA releases are not early access in all but name nowadays...
Vainamoinen: wall'o'text As appalling as Early Access is, I still want an alternative from GoG.
If only because there is lots of game being developed (from indies, sometimes also on KickStarter, ...) that only propose Early Access. No DRM-free version and such, Steam only.
Some do have a DRM-free option, but those that do offer alpha or beta as DRM-free (as opposed to EA) are very few and far between.
The way I see it, GoG could offer those devs another way to make their work known.
It doesn't to be Steam OR GoG for this, so if the devs can have both, more power to them.
Now though, it would seems there's a lot of abuse on EA, so GoG will just have to tighten the entry-point.
I don't know, something like not-ludicrous prices for a product than is not finished, having a properly working version (to some extent, of course)...
My main issue is that Steam's Early Access will continue to exist for a while, and that means some devs that don't know (or care) about DRM-free will be lured into that horrible ogre.
And even if they do know or care about DRM-free, they have an easier distribution system on EA than by themselves (more so if they're lazy... and I'm referring to some projects I saw on KS).
That's why I want a GoG equivalent of EA, the GoG-way of course, so devs don't get stuck in a one-way system (which I happen not to want to join as a gamer with principles).
gamefood: Cool presentation guys! :)
