oldschool: OS X would be epic. I've have nothing against Linux, I've just really never used it.

Coelocanth: I'm of course just speculating, but if it were Linux support, it would be interesting timing, since I've decided to try diving into Linux again and have loaded a distro onto my netbook. I may go for a dual boot with one of my rigs if I find I can figure it out again.
I will be glad to help to a Linux newcomer. Actually it is much more easier than Windows. You just have to think in Linux way.

Elmofongo: I would be surprised if GOG revives old MMORPGs like Ultima Online and Everquest 1 with GOG supported servers :)
Why would they? Unless the games have a supported in-game server support I don't see that happening (and for good reason).

Besides, I believe both games are still running and worst case, there are private servers.

Thanks for the offer. Very kind. I played around with Linux for a while a few years ago (Tried Ubuntu way back in the alphabet. Around the D or E releases I think). My netbook has Mint on it already (installed a couple days ago) and I never use the Windows partition on it, so was thinking of tossing the latest Ubuntu on there as well. This is an ideal solution for me, actually, since I can futz around and it doesn't matter if I 'break' something. I can just reinstall and start again. If I get completely confused, perhaps I'll turn on the lich signal. :)

I got EQ1 installing on what appears to be an offical server and they are still making expansions today even while EQ2 is out.

The only way I see GOG "resurrecting" MMOGs (or MUDs) is to include the server component (whether original or third-party, as allowed by the relevant rights-holders) in the installer package so that the customers could easily set up their own private server. Otherwise, GOG-run servers could easily be called out as being DRM, and said servers being shut down sometime in the future would again shut people off from playing the game legally.

Exactly. Maybe they will in the future but there's probably a few barriers in the way.
