Miaghstir: So that's how you stop crackers? Leave the CC number/username&password database wide open?
Hey - you can't hack something unprotected, can you ?

Although your analogy misses a key element - I implied that there ARE (existential quantifier) some people that x, not that ALL (universal quantifier) people x.
So, to paraphrase - if you leave something unprotected for an unlimited number of hackers, chances are that some of them will give up in frustration. Allegedly - Houdini was once almost tricked in a similar fashion...

But, yeah, what eyeball226 said is what I meant. And there have already been some people here who were confused about downloading/installing/moving on a thumb drive/making a copy, which - let me reiterate - was both sad and amusing. It's almost like letting a bird out of a cage - if he doesn't know any better, he will run right back inside.

Doesn't it say in gog-thing.. that you can play any game almost anywhere. That doesn't mean that bunch of "friends" isn't knocking on the door. I registered mine witcher 2. but if witchers,, meaning hackers want something they can take it unless they cannot access anything. Fuck I payed my game and if in 5 years I cannot download this again I should have a refund of sorts. Not sure what's the problem. I think serious problem is that that games leak before their release date. and a too few demos. Witcher 2 didn't have demo. so I bought it kinda blindfolded.
I like gog.. I think that most is always about principles. there's a murderer that don't care and there is another who regret everything. Even that.. that he fed the hamster poison.
This is humanity.

And what's wrong with that? =9

Point being.. They will never get my corpse.. I mean cd-key. =)

Miaghstir: I read it as "people are so used to climbing over hurdles that they don't know how to proceed when none exists", and widened that beyond just DRM.

eyeball226: .Haha, I read your post as critical rather than as a joke, sorry about that!
you are right in that statement. but 1.1 patch makes the game free "so to speak" . I'll wait 1.3 patch 'cos i'm still meddling in witcher one. If W2 tops that game in my mind. Then i'll say.. I'm a bastard son of Geralt os Rivia.
Cd-registeration fucked me over couple of times but that was my peerblock. Which I use various reasons. Nice to see who whatches who.

kScope: Go Here: http://www.gog.com/en/page/my_tw2_info/

You should be able to see your game key
This means witcher 2. I need a key for the witcher 1.

I can not find any key in my confirmation mail and the gog support would not response or help.

Please GOG Team

I will need a Key for my purchase for the witcher 1
Why? You don't need one.

I have sent nummerous of mails but stil get no response.

I can't run the game without a Key.

You don't need a key for The Witcher. It installs and runs without one for sure.

Pic or didn't happen.

If you're really having such a bug, you seem to be the only one as there didn't seem to be any threads on the Witcher board about such. The GOG version doesn't have cd-keys, and you really shouldn't need one, since it's just for registering to the official forums or something.

Sorry if I sound like an ass but I've worked as a "computer teacher" long enough to ask: Have you actually tried to run the game?

I've checked in our system that you haven't downloaded the game yet. The Witcher 1 on GOG.com doesn't require a CD key to play the game. Just download the installer, install the game and run it - everything should work just fine.

first I laughed... then I realised you were serious and I laughed harder while having a meeting between my face and palm...
Nah guys, don't be so harsh. Maybe he has the CDs from a friend and just wanted to unlock them without downloading the whole package. We're talking about 8 GB and not everyone has a fast connection or a flatrate.

Well, that's still not grounds to complain. GOG don't sell keys for you to use with your CD, they sell you downloadable DRM-free games.

Why would you buy it from a DRM-free DD site if you didn't have a decent connection?

I believe he didn't wanted to complain, he wasn't sure how gog is workin and expected to get a CD-Key and so asked for it. Maybe some more informations were helpful, but sometimes as a new user and non-native speaker this can be problematic. Now he knows and hopefully can enjoy his drm-free game and aquires the taste for more ;-)

Well, he was being pretty rude and spamming. His first post is a double post that's been merged. He also made another one of this thread: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/cd_key_for_the_witcher_782kqnt3gmm_1
