Hey All,

I thought the navigation must be a bit better on the GOGWiki and I started to categorize all of the games (already done with Games starting with a #, A, B, C, D, or E).

As there are a whole lot of Games, I would hope if some volunteers can help out here.

What is to do?

All the GOG Titles have a genre tag (ex.: Ceasar 3 is tagged with: Simulation, Strategy, Managerial) and there have to be ported over to the Wiki.

How is this done?
It is quite easy to add the tags, just open up the game page and start editing the page (you need to be logged into www.gogwiki.com to do so). At the very end of the page source, you have to add Categories.

On our Example of Caesar 3:
--- This needs to be added ---
[[Category:Simulation]]
[[Category:Strategy]]
[[Category:Managerial]]
--- Done ---

Save the page and go on to the next title.

Easy? Yes, it is... but a lot of work.

If you love to help out, please tell here which starting letter you take that you don't edit a game some else might be working on.

There are 3 special tags, that need a different categorization:

FPP = [[Category:First Person Perspective]]
TPP = [[Category:Third Person Perspective]]
RPG = [[Category:Role Playing Game]]

As you can see, I have updated the navigation bar, and you are now able to browse through games having specific tags :)

Many thanks for any help

Little update... all games up to (and including) the letter E are done.

I have seen that R and S have been taken care of as well.
I'll claim F and G to start with. It might take me a while to get the hang of it but should have some time later today. If no other takers then I'll gladly help as I get time over the next few days. It's the least I can do as I enjoy lurking on the wiki.

Quick question: is it possible to see a list of what tags have already been used? That way I can use the same format to prevent duplicates.

Hmm... no Time Commando page has been made. I will have to skip it since I know nothing on making a game page.

Thank you, added :)
Seems no one missed that one ;)
I'm now working backward from J.

I need to leave the office now.
Your help is highly appreciated... finished already a good part of all the games.
F & G are done. I'll look later this evening when I get home to see what else needs finished.
What's still left to do? You should really put up a temporary wiki page for tracking progress so that everone who's working on this can mark off what they're doing/have done themselves
I is currently worked on, so only H is left :)
Everything is done... many thanks for all the help.

Hope everyone enjoys the new navigation system :)

Glad I could help out :)
I love the way it's organised now. Thanks to Ubivis and everyone who helped.

Ubivis, can I make a couple of non-urgent requests?

Can you configure the $wgCookieDomain setting so that cookies are shared between gogwiki.com and www.gogwiki.com?

Can you configure short URLs so that we could, for example, use the URL gogwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page instead of gogwiki.com/index.php?title=Main_Page ?

both done :)
Awesome - thanks. I'll update the gogwiki script on userscripts.org to use the short URLs since that's quick to do, and the extensions for the other browsers will follow suit on the next version.
