hedwards: I dunno, I can't view the video as I don't have an account. And I don't think that you can create an account without it being a G+ account.
I didn't realize that there's no way to view "age restricted" videos there without an account.
It's the same one as this one.

Hey, can you indeed confirm that the original Catacomb game will be coming "soon", and maybe the source code included as bonus material? :) That's what Richard Mandel said.

Can GOG get Hovertank 3D too?

Yeah, I was surprised by that as well. Of course if this isn't the video, I'm probably going to have a hell of a time trying to find the right one as video searches are still pretty much impossible and I saw the video several years ago.

EDIT: The section starts at about 9:41 and I see that it's somewhat less clear than I recall as to what about that was intended and what was unintended. It doesn't sound to me like it was intended for people to be able to glide across the walls and the code to do that predates the code that made doing so beneficial to the player.

I definitely can concede that your interpretation is reasonable though.

That's the part I found. I thought it sounded like he was talking about being able to slide past doors rather than going up into the spot and be right up against them. It is weird since doors are inset yet have the same thickness as a regular wall as far as movement is concerned. He mentions it being fixed in later versions, but that must be on another system. I'm only familiar with the PC version.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the code to do that predates the code that made doing so beneficial to the player" though.

From a post the DieHardWolfers forum from the one who help get the code released:
As for GOG, it seems like they're rejecting a number of classic titles:

So they've rejected Hovertank 3D (and other games)... :(
Pretty obscure games, a source port would be cool but I have my doubts, Blake Stone had it's source code released by Apogee last year but still haven't heard anything about adding support for it to Wolf3D source ports.
Shame on gog on rejecting Hovertank. It is a truly legendary game

Best way to do it would be to have a "Softdisk Collection" for $10 on GOG which includes all softdisk games from that era (with the exception of those already on GOG)

Something like that would be nice.

And I do believe that the ECWolf port plans to support Hovertank and the Catacomb games. (Blake Stone is in the works.)
Catacomb Armageddon and Catacomb Apocalypse source codes are now available. Now it is all complete! :-)

Now that the Catacomb saga is all open source now. So what console & handheld platform would you like to see the Catacomb saga on? iPad? PS Vita, 3DS, PS4 or what?

Now looking forward to Dangerous Dave sources to be released. *Crosses fingers*

According to the one helping get the source ready to post:

"All the sources that are going up are uploaded now. "

Doh! GOG is aware that they've rejected the first FPS*? XD

Vote for Hovertank!
http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/hovertank_3d

*Or first of the id lineage and copycats at least.
I think we need to vote on "Stop rejecting classic games that rights owners offer." :P Or maybe a list of games they rejected to vote on to overturn. (GOG Redlight?)

Richard didn't say that there wouldn't be more source releases, but at this point he's probably waiting for people to do something with what was released. After all, I used ECWolf to convince him to release the 3D games (the 2D catacomb games are just a bonus).

ECWolf will support Blake Stone, I started on that from before the source was released, and it will be finished. It's a matter of time. The 3D Catacomb games will be supported at some point as well. Hovertank will likely be playable as well, but I don't know if I would call it supported. In other words, it will be played as if controlling a human rather than a tank. Which I know some of you will think is just fine. But we'll see, anything can happen there.

2 days have passed and no news a/b the Dangerous Dave sources being uploaded. I'll have to wait more.
