tejozaszaszas: Well. Carmageddon runs fine on DosBox, but the Splat Pack...

TheEnigmaticT: Yes, but I believe our development wizards have determined a solution to that.

I think. :P
Witches! Burn them!

hedwards: I've been trying out nGlide and it's pretty impressive when it works.
Yeah, at least with Carmageddon 2 it works just great (which is a Windows game though, unlike the predecessor).

SLP2000: On their kickstarter page.
Yeah, I didn't notice that because the "Steam is lovely!" comment in the FAQ completely destroyed any interest I had because I figured there was no chance of a DRM-free release - so I wasn't following it.

Good news though :)

EDIT: Wait, they are also planning on a Linux version? They need to shut up and take my money :| (not that I have a lot after all the other kickstarters!)

Take a look at the second $15 pledge, I think they changed their stance on DRM as that's the DRM free option.
It seems to be a rather pretty release regarding the bonus content offered, good things.

As for the DRM-free aspect of the kickstarter, they will first release the steam version and later, a DRM-free will be release (not initially) with reduced multiplayer features.

sebarnolds: with reduced multiplayer features.
What, no breaking into a CoD multiplayer session and running over every single player?

I'd pay $1k for a feature like that.
Original game from the acclaimed series coming soon to GOG.com
Is this an exclusive offer ?
No Steam , GamersGate or any other store ?

It may be temporary exclusive, just like Baldurs Gate and other games.

Thanks . I'm still remember for the Botanicula fiasco .

Well, I guess Botanicula case made GOG aware they need to secure their deals with indie devs.

And to be honest, I'm happy with how it worked out - now I have Machinarium on GOG for free, which I wanted, but I wasn't happy to pay again for it (because I already did it three or four times during Pirate sale and two or three HIBs).

And as for Carmageddon - I think the main problem here is that only GOG will test it and make it run on modern machines. They (devs) can't allow anyone to sell not working version, as it could hurt their sales with C:Reincarnation.

Well, what a fasco. You got two games for free and all that extra godies they gave for a limited time. I hope to be on the next fiasco.

grviper: Does Fear Factory get their share for the OST, or do we get no CD audio?
I guess they signed a contract for the music to be in basically any game called "Carmageddon", thus their music being on the PS1 mashup of Carmageddon 1 and 2 as well.

On the other hand, other distributors (at least Gamersgate) have used GOG's repackaged installers at the permission of the publisher.

After some time, yes.

Probably that's the price for a temporary exclusivity.
