This is more of a curiosity then a necessity. I wish to know what great modern car combat games are out there today for the PC?

I'm playing through Interstate 76 and, having played classics like Carmageddon, Twisted Metal 2, Necrodome, I want to know if there are any other current games for the PC in the genre.

Though I'm a bit more interested in those like Twisted Metal and I76.
Autoduel!

Okay, not exactly modern, but Rumplestiltskin!

Vigilante 8 might be something you're interested in.

Barely any for the PC

But you do need to pick up a dreamcast/PSX to play vigilante 8 second offense (dreamcast reccomended :P)
Seems to be a less common produced game lately.

I think the newest I can can think off is Vin Diesel: Wheelman

Doesnt seem to be a commonly made game type anymore.

Zombie Driver comes out on the 13th though it doesnt look like my type of thing

I used to enjoy hioctane and death rally when i was younger

What, seriously? There's Whiplash/Fatal Racing, Forsaken (more like a "hoverbike combat" game), CyberSpeed (I loved the faux "adverts" in this one), Death Rally (now a freeware "Vista/7 Compatible" download from Remedy), and others that escape my single malt-drenched memory at the moment.
Burnout Paradise, but I guess it's still mostly a racing game rather than a vehicular combat game.
Maybe Blur and Split/Second?
GTA IV perhaps?

None of those recent games are really the same as say... Carmageddon, where the combat serves as the centerpiece. They just don't make games like that anymore, which is a shame because they're so much fun.

Fatal Racing/Whiplash (Whiplash in the USA) was great for me because I didn't own a PlayStation and thus didn't have access to Demolition Derby.

I kinda expected you guys to go over a lot of classics. XD

I had hopes of some sort of Vigilante 8 Arcade or Twisted Metal available to the PC, but no luck.

There's this Crasher game over Steam. I'm downloading it's demo now. But it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I was hoping to real life like cars.
If nothing else, see if you can't find videos somewhere of the phony adverts from CyberSpeed. It's like someone had been watching too much RoboCop.

My first impression of Crasher:

1) It really is a multiplayer on game. And nobody is playing it. (FAIL)
2) There are no bots or single player options. (Super Fail)
3) Instead of common Machine guns, rocketry and crazy guns, it features bizarre melee skills (Ultra Fail Finisher!)

The graphics are very beautiful and the car handles nicely... but... so much fail! I just wanted to run and gun around some AI creepers... why can't I?!?! Is it asking too much?!!?!?!

Uh, what? Zombie Driver's been out for more than a YEAR now.

It's an excellent game. Anyone who gets it now gets TWICE the game I got - added voice acting, and an additional racing mode.

Hey, that's no way to talk to Marty! I think his time circuits need recalibrating. You're in 2009, so there's obviously a twenty-year calibration error. Just set the dials for 1969 and you should hopefully end up 1989, which I'm assuming was your goal, and Doc will be able to fix things from there.

^That's the most recent car combat game I've played :-/
It wasn't bad, though. Difficult in places.

I'd like playing this in multiplayer, having two players per car (driver and gunner), although I'm not sure my... copy... works online. GOG needs to get this one.
