RayRay13000: Oh my Capcom having on disk content on one of their games??? Shocking.

After Street Fighter X Tekken is this really a surprise to anyone?
Street fighter X Tekken? Ha! they been doing this well before that game they had locked out content in Mega Man 9 or 10(maybe both I don't recall) they had on disc content in the SF4 games, also in RE 5 and so on.

Let's face it Capcom are the kings of locking out crap in the game and selling you a silly unlock code.

orcishgamer: You know, I bet I've seen 45 minutes of solid game play from this game by now... I'm seriously not getting the issues with the game. Is it "not like a RE game"? Are we still pretending that RE games are good? They aren't. They're as silly as anything in the movies, fuck the movie probably has a better story by now. Those videos make it look like a pretty fun game, actually, much more clever than Bulletstorm and a host of other games people like to praise on a regular basis.

So, the game could pretty much be shit, I don't actually know since I haven't played it, but none of those videos make it look like a shitty game. I could probably do w/o the quick time events, but none seem overlong so I doubt they'll induce any kind of tedium.
I have a copy of the game and while I haven't really gotten terribly far it seems not too dramatically different from RE5 in actual gameplay. The setting is a lot darker (as in lack of light, not as in tone) and the story seems rather cheesy but overall it isn't terrible, it just doesn't really bring anything new to the series.

The older games, with all their flaws, quirks, and cheesy plot, used to be some nice survival horror games... the recent ones are you standard average third person shooters with some zombies/infected/whatever in them.

It's kind understandable that peoples who liked them as survival horrors are rather disappointed.

But I swear they act like this every time, yet, the games haven't played that way for a long time...

Dude I played the demo it just bad imo, if you want me to play it completely so I can review better fine I'll go rent it.

EDIT: and despite the fact it could be a good action game, but for what and at what cost?

It could be ass in the full game too, but I would say the demo for Spec Ops: The Line would have totally submarined how good of a game that actually turned out to be.

I don't really need you to do something you don't want to just to please me. I just haven't heard anyone who's actually played the game that disliked it. I specifically asked the Gamestop employees when I went to pick up Black and White 2 on Sunday, they said they didn't have people bringing it back for trade credit already and most of the buyers were fairly positive about it.

Again, the game could be ass, I simply see nothing in all the game play video footage I've seen to make me think it is.

Does it have a bunch of unlikable characters with stilted dialog and a stupid as fuck story? I'm nearly positive that it does, but if that was a problem I wouldn't be able to play most video games.

As far as "what cost"? I'm not sure where you're going, what was the last actual horror RE, RE2 maybe?

As far as "for what"? Because it's fucking fun to play a game like that!

the cost is that now there are fewer proper new horror games and all we have left is Amnesia, and this Lone Survivor which the latter imo is overrated.

and the last Survival Horror RE was Outbreak.

Elmofongo: and the last Survival Horror RE was Outbreak.
That's sort of the point, it's been a decade. RE has been gonzo action and cheesy story since then, with maybe a brief departure for RE4 (depending on how one felt about it).

You're complaining that someone spilled the milk a decade ago, RE6 didn't do anything but maintain the RE status quo, it's silly to bemoan the lost survival horror aspect, that hasn't been around for a long time now.

I still see a glass half full of milk over there, if the glass is as horribly half empty as the internet hyperbole is maintaining I cannot wait to pick it up during Christmas for 10 bucks and get drunk and play it.

The fans are to blame for complaining that RE was being the same until RE4 came now we want to change back to survivor horror because we did not realize this generation is going to have fewer variety in gameplay and we see RE 5 and 6 building from 4 being the same as other games now like Dead Space,Uncharted, Gears of War, Mass Effect (imo),and so many other action games similar.
Discounting OP's own posts, we have 22 replies in an RE6 thread, and not one has thanked OP for his time and attention?

You just named a bunch of games that actually play a lot differently... I mean, there's some mechanical similarity but the reasons for playing each is almost completely different for each one.

But they are no RE remake and Silent Hill either.

But I want to change the subject, after this RE6 shitstorm why am I getting the feeling Dead Space 3 is going to be more well received thus causing more outrage for example:

"What you bash RE6, but praise Dead Space 3 even though its the same shoot em up as RE6!"

I am completely braced for such hypocrisy and will be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen.

Roman 5 turned out to be completely right as always.
