Capcom has spawned a new form of DRM that only allows you to have one save game ever. You can never start your game from the beginning again or have multiple save files. This is to discourage used games sales because the game is only useable with its original save.

And I thought Ubisoft's persistent online connection DRM was as bad as it could get. I guess I was wrong.

Ooops! I just saw that someone else posted this. I tried to search first, but it didn't bring up that thread. I should have just looked at the main page instead of trusting the search engine.

Don't worry, the search is half-broken as far as I can tell.

It lists the most recent hits at the last page, for starters ;)

And the half that isn't broken simply refuses to work.
When I saw the thread title, I didn't believe you. I didn't think it could get any worse.

I was wrong, oh boy was I wrong. That's such a completely terrible idea I can't believe it ever got the OK.... how could ANYONE think that was a smart plan?!

I'd bet damn near anything they lose more sales because of this boneheaded idea then they ever would have lost due to used game sales.
You know.. titles can be misleading. And we are many. (propably geth said that).. Anyway I'll repeat myself. but with a different word. And today that is awful.
Well, at least it's on the 3DS: a console I won't buy even in 10 years from now....

Yeah I noticed that the last time I used it. Funny.
"Capcom tries to kill used video game sales with the one-save game"

They're going to kill video game sales, period.
It's funny how far they go to stop piracy yet this sort of thing has the exact opposite effect.

I'm sure people who would of bought this will probably look into getting a cracked game that actually lets you save when you want instead, you know like a legit customer should be able to.
I had a DS game that did this ages ago, but I think that might have been accidental.

That was Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2

I completed that game 100% and wanted to reset it as I was planning to trade it in.

I feel sorry for the poor soul that bought that game...

That's nothing, I am currently designing a DRM system which kicks you in the balls when trying to install the game, and it calls you sissy while you're lying on the floor all whiny. And this is with the original, you don't want to know what happens with a pirated copy.
About this DRM-ish thing, didn't they sort of have that in Resident Evil 5 already? I mean, you could probably hunt down the files and eradicate them, or install it on some other computer, but I couldn't get rid of my mega buster guns in the inventory and moneys ingame (without messing around with selling buying selling until everything's gone) and hence didn't ever play it through again.

It doesn't do any of that and works properly?
