AnimalMother117: W
Both Al Pacino and Steve McQueen were considered for the lead role in Apocalypse Now. Marlon Brando arrived overweight, drunk (I think), and unprepared for his role (he was supposed to have read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, but didn't) as Kurtz. Martin Sheen suffered a heart attack during production, and the sets were destroyed by a storm I believe at least once.

tinyE: Where you aware that they filmed almost half of it with Harvey Keitel in the lead? One day FFC wakes up and decides he's all wrong for the part so they had to go back and start over.
They filmed 'Back to the Future' with Eric Stoltz as Marty for 5 weeks too!

BTW I could see people replying to your post but I couldn't see the original post itself - thought I was going mad, turned out I was looking to a green and not a blue TinyE! Sneaky! What happened? Did Pac-man eat a power pill or something?

Neobr10: I don't think it was developed by the Vietnamese, but the only thing that comes to mind is the Vietcong series.
Yeah, like most good war games it's a Czech game. :B

AnimalMother117: I've actually never seen Tour of Duty, heard good things about the first season, although the DVD collection supposedly removes all the classic music. I was very interested in Men of War Vietnam back before it released, but I shyed away because of DRM. The first game is great, and the idea of it taking place in Viet Nam sounds amazing. Supposedly earlier Tour of Duty is like the earlier issues of Marvel's "The 'Nam."

monkeydelarge: WHAT?! You are missing out, man. Tour Of Duty is better than all the Vietnam War movies out there. It just kicks so much ass. Yeah, it sucks that the original music was removed but the new music is decent.
I've been meaning to get the first season, but I'm too cheap for my own good sometimes. Although, with the recommendation, I'll have to think about more.

NHL Playoffs. Everyone gets pissed at me when I switch avatars so I just changed the color to match my team. The way the Blues are playing they are toast in 4 games so don't get used to this. :P

Sorry for the derail there.
tour of duty is fine show, showing so much untypical shown on war movie. drugs, prostitute, battle stress. gotta love it every time they showing up back then. what a memory
What was the name of the Vietnam movie filmed entirely from the point of view of the in field cameraman? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Kids in the Hall? Hockey? Are you SURE you're not Canadian and not from the US at all? You probably like bacon too!

(sorry to further derail but hey - its solved, OPs probably happily wandered off to play his funny titled FPS by now)

Well maybe my taste is different from yours but I've seen every Vietnam War movie out there and there is only three Vietnam War movies I like(The Siege Of Firebase Gloria & Hamburger Hill & Apocalypse Now). I don't like Full Metal Jacket because the first half of the movie(the basic training)brings back a lot of bad memories. But the 2nd half of the movie is awesome because of animal mother, of course. :) We Were Solders would be another Vietnam War movie I like but there are too many parts of the movie that kill the mood for me.

I don't know if it was better than Platoon or FMJ, but I was really bummed when they canceled that show. I get a kick out of seeing some of those actors on other shows. Private Marcus Taylor seems to get a lot of acting work, but I have seen some of the others here and there.

Forgot about Hamburger Hill, another good one.

Fever_Discordia: It's called '7554'? Blimey. no wonder he couldn't remember the name of it, I'd forget that too!
Where do they get '7554' from?
It refers to 7th of May 1954.

Yeah it makes me sad that they canceled the show because of The Golden Girls and some other bullshit.

Wow - so this is the war against the French, a pre-cursor war to the Vietnam conflict we usually think of!
Mind - slightly blown by that!

I think they canceled it due to all the wives complaining to CBS that their husbands were glued to a TV Show that they hated. I know it caused a lot of hate in my household from the womenfolk.

Okay, after hearing this. I'm now a misogynist... <- Not really, obviously.

But all those women who complained to CBS, I do really hate...

That show is on my top 5 favorite TV shows list...and they MURDERED it... They murdered one of the best TV shows ever made... That is a serious crime against the world... For all eternity, every time someone discovers this show, falls in love with it...they will have to suffer because after season three....it's all over....nothing. Those three seasons...like tear drops in the rain... And no, some shitty dumb downed politically correct Tour Of Duty remake in the future can't make up for this great loss...
