Like title says, it was developed by the Vietnamese, so you probably play as either PAVN or NLF. I'm pretty sure it was developed in the last like six years. Sorry to start a new thread, couldn't find a generic "can't remember game name" thread.
Hopefully, it's even real. Pretty sure it is.

While I'm on the subject, I'd really like it if GOG somehow got Dogs of War.
Anybody else ever hear of the Hell in Vietnam, Marine: Heavy Machine Gunner: Vietnam, Platoon's strategy game, or any other kinda obscure games like this?
The M16s in Black Ops use the 20 round magazine, while they erroneously show thirty rounds in the mag. Also, these 20 round magazines would not feed the rifle properly so they would only put eighteen in anyway. Not like anyone really wanted to know, just thought it was worth pointing out while I'm here.
LAW stands for Light Anti-tank Weapon. It was a disposable, one shot anti-tank weapon largely used by American forces in Viet Nam (properly two words, sorry about that). Type Norinco 56s and AKMs were actually probably the weapons used more by the PAVN/NLF than an real AK-47. More trivia until this crisis is resolved.
Both Al Pacino and Steve McQueen were considered for the lead role in Apocalypse Now. Marlon Brando arrived overweight, drunk (I think), and unprepared for his role (he was supposed to have read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, but didn't) as Kurtz. Martin Sheen suffered a heart attack during production, and the sets were destroyed by a storm I believe at least once.

I don't think it was developed by the Vietnamese, but the only thing that comes to mind is the Vietcong series. It's a series of FPS games in which you can play as both US and Vietnam soldiers.

I'm obsessed with the Vietnam War and have been ever since I was a child so I already know that during this war, they used 20 round magazines for the M-16s. It bothers me when Vietnam War games have 30 round magazines for the M-16s. Bad Company 2 Vietnam is a joke... There should be more Vietnam War games but noooo... it's always WW2, WW2, WW2.

Where you aware that they filmed almost half of it with Harvey Keitel in the lead? One day FFC wakes up and decides he's all wrong for the part so they had to go back and start over.

Or Modern warfare, modern warfare, modern warfare. I too have been obsessed with the war since childhood (both grandfathers served at one point or another) and to that end have read hundreds of articles, seen dozens (probably more) of documentaries, looked at hundreds of pictures, so on and so on. It really doesn't get any representation, and what is there can sometimes be downright appalling (like Bad Company 2's DLC) in every imaginable way, guns and event depictions included with one of the worst offenders being Black Ops. Why couldn't we play as grunts and Spec Ops in Nam and abroad instead of this Mission Impossible-esque action movie with an Alaskan who doesn't sound American? Should be a new Men of Valor or Vietcong or something like that. Even Hell in Vietnam tried to be better it seems than the norm.

Your version of events is more interesting, but in reality Keitel was only there for the first week of filming that eventually took 16 months. Not quite half :)

Asbeau: Your version of events is more interesting, but in reality Keitel was only there for the first week of filming that eventually took 16 months. Not quite half :)
I had a feeling I was off on that. :P

I'm willing to stand up and admit stupidity by myself on that one. :D

What do you think of the TV show, Tour Of Duty? Men Of War Vietnam is a good game Vietnam War game in my opinion.

I've actually never seen Tour of Duty, heard good things about the first season, although the DVD collection supposedly removes all the classic music. I was very interested in Men of War Vietnam back before it released, but I shyed away because of DRM. The first game is great, and the idea of it taking place in Viet Nam sounds amazing. Supposedly earlier Tour of Duty is like the earlier issues of Marvel's "The 'Nam."

WHAT?! You are missing out, man. Tour Of Duty is better than all the Vietnam War movies out there. It just kicks so much ass. Yeah, it sucks that the original music was removed but the new music is decent.
