I really would like to purchase Planescape Torment, and my only option is a Visa giftcard, can't even use PayPal. However, when I try to make the transaction, it's declined. I check the card's history, and it says the purchase was declined because of "Restrcited country" or something similar. Am I simply screwed?

It seems like it may be a glitch, if you have bought games before. Or the card does not have enough?. I don't see why it would be country restricted. Try to just log out of it compleatly then go back in. That helped me once on steam.

Haven't purchased anything from GOG before. I tried logging out and back in, but it didn't work, it still gets declined. Oh, and the card DOES have enough, I just picked it up tonight.

I'm pretty sure that we have posts before about the gift cards only being able to purchase things in the US which GOG is unfortunately not
GOG's payment processor is not located in the USA, so some companies and banks think they're not safe. One of 'em is so stupid, it thinks they fund terrorists.

I would suggest using the card through PayPal to purchase the item. I think it's possible.

It depends on the nature of the gift card and who the issuing bank is. I have purchased games on GOG using an American Visa Gift Card. But many gift card do limit transactions to "USA only". Check the terms and conditions of the gift card.

If not, as someone suggested add the gift card to a paypal account and check out that way.

How? On the PayPal site I only see options to add funds via a bank

Welp, ended up getting a friend gifting it to me. Still, rather a hinderance

I do all my gog buying through PayPal.
Not had a problem yet *touch wood*
Oh, Well I think he said paypal was messed up. I have no idea if that didnt help. Maybe just DX Honistly I never seen this before on anything. Im guessing talk to gog support themselves. I do not want to tell you something really wrong and have you get fucked.

Something similar happened to me. I'd already bought a few GOGs using PayPowers Visa giftcard. Then one day my purchase was declined without explanation. I called the card company and was told the retailer (GOG) was on the OFAC list. As far as I know this is false.

Eventually I added the card to my PayPal account and was able to make the purchase.

Took me a while to figure out how to add the card. If you have an existing PayPal account then the following method will work for you. If you don't have an account, try setting one up with your gift card. I've never done that. I don't know if you can or can't.

On the second row of the navigation bar, at the very end, you will find a "Profile" link. Hover your mouse cursor over it to reveal a drop down list. Click on "Add or Edit Credit Card". From there follow the directions. See attached picture...

This works with Gift cards, yes? If so, this could very well help out with future purchases, thanks

Your welcome. It worked for me using a PayPower gift card.
I bought it at my local grocery store. I assume it should work with any brand of gift card.

Additionally, by using the gift card through PayPal, I avoided the currency conversion and an ISA fee (?). Some days those fees were bigger than others. But through PayPal I wasn't charged them.
Also it's perfectly possible to use a credit card through Paypal without making an account, see attached screenshot. I know the problem's been solved, but it might help someone at some point.

The solution marked as 'Solution' is invalid and does not work. All adding a card to PayPal does is conduit your payments. The purchases still have to be approved by the actual card.
I have the same problem as OP, and am beyond infuriated with PayPal and my visa prepaid card.
Again, this does not work. For me, anyways.
