It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Something very strange has happened to my laptop.

1) EVERY site I go to, including this one, looks vastly different than it ever did. I mean EVERYTHING is bolded, even in my email list, where only new ones are supposed to be bolded, all are. At every site I visit everything looks like it's in a different font and is bolded.

At first, I found it easier to read, so didn't mind. But now it's got me concerned because I can't distinguish which emails are read/unread, and similar stuff like that on other sites.

Here's the thing, the ONLY thing I did was installed the demo to Microsoft's Age Of Empires Rise of Rome game (a great old game that I wanted to get the scenarios from to add to my current copy of Age of Empires).

That's it. No Windows updates (I checked). Nothing else changed. As soon as I downloaded and installed that demo, everything has changed.

AND, I can't do ANYTHING here at GOG with that laptop now. I can purchase (I did that), but I can't post in current threads and can't start new threads (I tried to start this thread on that laptop). So far, this is the only website I've noticed anything like that about.

I uninstalled the damn demo, but all the web sites remain looking funky and all the email sites remain basically disfunctional because the read and un read emails look the same. And the laptop runs with virus protection on 24/7, and I even did a full scan to see if it was a virus, and everything is coming up ok. I even downloaded the demo again and had that file checked again, and again that file comes up clean.

Any ideas?

ADDED IN EDIT: I even tried to contact support, thinking I had been banned from the forums and asking why. But I couldn't even contact support. I purchased games, downloaded games, but basically could do NOTHING with the forums, including contacting GOG. Seems strange as hell. I would log out and re log back in, but I don't know how.

What browser are you using?
Have you tried using a different browser than your normal one?
Hold down ctrl+scroll your mouse wheel.
I.E. 9 is my browser.

Brand new laptop. WIndows 7, 64-bit.
Try a different browser and see if it keeps happening. If I had to guess, maybe AoE messed up your CSS settings in IE, don't know.

Well, that certainly changed things, lol, but it's not back to the way it was.

I guess loading that demo has done something I'm not gonna undo unless I recover my laptop??? That won't be such a big deal I guess since it's so new.
Maybe resolution changed? Did you try restarting laptop?

Also, friendly advice: Don't use IE. Use Firefox or Chrome instead.
Did you try a different browser? Try Firefox or Chrome and see if they look the same.

Is the issue limited to your browser? Try to enter the properties menu for your desktop (where you change the resolution, don't know its name in a non-Swedish version of Windows)->advanced and see if your DPI has changed. Normal is 96.
Check Internet Options -> General -> Accessibility
Perhaps the Override Fonts settings are checked?

No, thank you, didn't know about that, but no, it's not checked.

I'm going to just wipe the drive clean and do a recover and start over. No loading of Age of Empires Rise of Rome expansion this time.

That's all I know to do now and I'm frankly embarrassed at my other thread thinking this one was gone. I swear on my other computer (laptop) I cannot do ANYTHING here at GOG. So when I thought this thread had disappeared I really freaked out.

I'm going to wipe the C drive, start over with that laptop, and move on.

Sorry to everyone for my freaking out.

ADDED IN EDIT: I just logged out on my laptop, and logged back in, and tried to edit this post. Nothing. For some reason that laptop is now blocked from anything regarding the forums here at GOG.

So, I've got to wonder, if I'm banned. If any blue texted folks are reading this, could you please tell me that I'm banned and why. Won't get any arguments from me, I probably deserve it, it's just I think one should KNOW if they've been banned. But that laptop cannot post here.

There is one thing you could try before that, Arial Font Fix. I got it from this forum.
Apparently the game overwrites the Arial font and that is a problem for some people.
Note, I haven't tried it but if you're going to wipe your drive anyway it's an easy thing to try.

Probably just DNS responder cache that's fried.
Try cleaning it
CMD> ipconfig flushdns
Well, that was quite a bit more than I thought it was going to be considering I've had this thing less than a month. Thought the recovery would be much easier than that..

But at least my websites look like old again. And if this posts then whatever was wrong here is also fixed, so it was worth it if both are fixed.

Shame though, I'd bet dollars to donuts that if someone not as ignorant as I am of Windows in particular and computers in general were sitting in this chair, a couple of keystrokes would be all it would have taken.

Still can't understand how simply installing a Mircrosoft demo would do that much. Does that maybe mean the demo had a virus in it and my anit-virus (Norton Security Suite) didn't identify it??? Because Norton specifically popped up and said that file was safe.

If it was safe, still don't see how installing a game left me able to purchase games here, download games here, but not post on any forum here.
