I guess the exact exchange rate depends on your bank?

Other than the previous answers, be aware that quite a few of the UK banks love to charge a "Foreign Transaction Fee" which has been reported to be as high as 1.5 pounds. So do check with your bank for any such fees, in which case paypal may be preferable (even though their conversion rate is worse than the banks')

For future reference, the quickest way to find these things out is to google like this:

4.99 usd in gbp
9.98 usd in gbp
etc.

Just make sure to use the same capitalisation for both currencies. I have had both Google and DuckDuckGo stand confused when being asked for "10 USD in Sek" (or similar; correct spacing, but wrong capitalisation) but quickly giving the right answer to "10 USD in SEK".

EDIT: Meh, whatever, works now just because I mentioned it.

Stay a while and listen!
Welcome to GoG!
just keep in mind most of the banks in UK charge 1 pound fee for card transaction in non-pound currency

e.g. if you want to buy a game in sale for 2 USD you get charged 1 pound extra fee by the banking institution

1. That can vary from bank to bank. But naturally they're all going to shaft you.

2. That's why I use Paypal. Paypal are thieving bastards you shouldn't trust with your kid's lunch money. But you can avoid that potential conflict of interest by not leaving any money in your Paypal account and setting it up with a debit card so it can take money directly from your account. Paypal's 'fees' come in the form of a crappy conversion rate, but that will hit you less hard than the banks will for transactions this small.
I've gotten charged the Foreign Transaction Fee from two credit cards from different banks and Paypal. It's usually under a buck, but still just stupid.

Very surprised you got that through paypal. Do you have your card or your bank account attached to the paypal account? It might make a difference.
Card...During this summer sale, I have been using one of my credit cards instead of going through paypal. That credit card seems to have a lower FTF than the other card and paypal. I never really liked paypal, anyway. I eventually plan to get one of those amazon credit cards, they list that they wave FTFs.
Did someone just necro this thread with a completely unrelated question? Manomanoman...

Seems so. Hell you just make me notice.

But it actually seemed sooo legit so ...

When you think I was preparing a post about the risk of not upholding anti-ninjas laws in the drm-free virtual paradise .... it's a bit worrisome to realize that all those ninjas were in fact already here ~1year ago ..... what DID they mischievously do in the meantime ?

If i may ask : what is better to do ?

Fenixp: You can't, because GOG downloader sucks balls and can't download more than one thing at once. You can however drag Darkstone above TW2 to pause TW2 download and start Darkstone's.

edit: And don't forget that you can download the games via browser, which does allow more downloads at once
Maybe it doesn't allow you to download multiple items at once but it is a few times faster comparing to a browser download (as it downloads in multiple threads).
You'd rather want to download multiple items at once?
The overall download time will be the same as with downloading one at a time, but you'll wait a lot longer before anything is finished, as the speed will be divided for each item that's downloading.
