I've bought a lot of GOG games in recent months and it's getting harder to keep up with my collection now, particularly since games get updated fairly frequently around here.

So, I've downloaded several dozen games that I've bought, but I haven't been keeping up with the "New & Updated" notices when I log in. So, I know some of my downloaded packages are no longer up-to-date.

Is there any way for the GOG Downloader to verify that all my files are the most recent versions of everything? It'd be nice if it worked like Steam where once you decide to install a game it will always keep that game updated automatically with the latest stuff.

Barring that, is there any way to see the update history for games (or at the very least, when a game was last updated)? Then, I could at least compare the timestamp on my files to the timestamp of the game package on the server to see if I need to get the update.

Well, yes, but that's the best you can do for now.

Indeed, it would also be nice if you could check them for corruption and only download the chunks that are corrupted. But, I don't think that the utility does that either.

Also, it would be nice if you could check the updates without the notification disappearing... Sometimes I don't want to download it right away if it's something that's not significant.

I had been wondering what the deal is with the 2.x installers, honestly. I've noticed some of my games have updated installers labeled as 2.x. Even ones that I wouldn't expect to have an update at all, like really old games like Might & Magic 1-6.

The game files themselves aren't necessarily being changed when the installer is upgraded; the 2.x installers have a new installer interface as well as newer versions of components such as DOSBox. It looks like all installers will eventually be upgraded to use the new design.
