grviper: Loyalty edition also cannot be installed, if it doesn't detect the installed copy of the previous game.
So, what kind of DRM is that?

Preinstalledcopydrm?
The creators of STALKER games has lost their rights. Now the only rightsholder of the STALKER franchise is GSC Game World.

So it should be possible. Some GSC games are already on GOG.

Brutal.
This will sound completely ignorant (because it is), but do developers still get into those kinds of contracts?

It actually uses a lot of the resources from the previous games. THAT'S why it needs one of them installed to work.

So the normal edition includes all of those?

I guess that sort of makes the Loyalty Edition into an expansion pack.

Why would you do that? Is bandwidth becoming such an issue?

Yes, well you'd expect an expansion pack to be cheaper versus a standalone game.

I think the idea was lower download, but also a lower price. At release it was something like 30-40% cheaper.

There are 2 versions of Call of Pripyat. There's the Loyalty Edition, which works as I just described, and there is a full version that is a stand alone installation of the game.

grinninglich: What is the difference between regular Call of Pripyat?
I have an extra Steam Key for the stand-alone version. Do you have anything to trade for it?

Sorry :( I have already bought the stand-alone version from GamersGate. Plus i don't like using Steam. Unless a game is Steam only i don't bought it from Steam.
