Which one of the cnc games in steams sale is best, i havent played one since ra1(exept generals) i usually prefer mech based combat if that helps, also it would be for the single player aspect, maybe some random player vs ai deathmatchy type stuff.

I can only get 1 though till tuesday by which time the sales over.

The reward for this info is shiny rep points.

I think Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 is still the best game in the series. It's got the most fun single-player campaign, IMO.
If Tiberian Sun was on Steam, I would have said that. But it isn't. I think C&C3 is probably your best bet.
The original C&C. Metacritic agrees with me on this.

Of the ones that are actually on Steam, however, C&C3:Tiberium Wars is the best.

Sorry Deelee74 RA2 doesnt seem to be on the list. Thankyou for suggesting it though

Thankyou for your suggestion Aatami.

Again ShmenonPie that one is not in the steam sale by the looks of it. Edited in a lower post to reflect change.

I only saw RA3, C&C 3 and C&C 4. (and some expansions)

Keep em coming peeps

C&C 3 gets my vote as well. It looks nice, executes the traditional recipe of C&C well and has a good pace.

C&C 4 was a bit weird, and probably only worth it if you like co-op, multiplayer and micromanaging a small number of units.

Also, in case it matters to you, C&C 4 has that evil DRM that requires you to remain online even for single player.

Thankyou, Ill sicount C&C4 for that reason.

RA3's amazing, especially if you have someone to co-op with. It slightly changes typical C'n'C formula, and not in a bad way IMO, races are way more differed, there are plenty of interesting and fun units to toy with. IMO, it's definitely more awesome that C'n'C 3, which is just a generic C'n'C game and sci-fi. And Tiberian Sun is the best :-P
Thank you Fenixp and wpegg

going by this and the one in the deals thread thats 2 for ra3 and 4.5 for cnc3 (minus 5 million for cnc 4 due to its drm)

Updated with wpeggs addition and ShmenonPies edit.

In my opinion, C & C 3 represents the pinnacle of single player RTS (better than starcraft 2). Mutliplayer, can't comment.

No! - 5 million to C & C 4 because it's crap.

Actually, scratch what I said, just base your decision on whatever you prefer. If you prefer hardcore and serious sci-fi story, pick CnC 3, and especially Kane's Wrath, which just has great singleplayer and conquest mode.

If you like shiny stuff and explosions, pick RA3. It has mission where you level a whole city with giant mech and other player provides support. That thing literally runs over planes. Basically, it's way more stylish and satiric.

But I think id enjoy both of those elements and am ristricted to getting just 1 :-(

I gave a heads or tails challenge to random.org and it gave it to RA3 (tails) was tempted to do best out of 5 but though id be there all night so I'll just go with that and pick up C&C 3 in the next sale.

Well that was a fliping hassle, had to try 4 times cause the price was coming up at £18.99 which is higher than the non sale price.
