Indeed, would it really have been so hard to explain how I'm allegedly wrong here? I can accept the notion that I didn't understand the promo, but as it stands, all they've done is sullied their reputation. I had forgotten about the post, it would have been buried in the search rankings before too long anyways. And for a shop this size,

A short note explaining why I was allegedly wrong would have fixed any alleged damages.

avatar
hedwards: Unfrounded accusations? They could have ended the thing by explaining how I had misunderstood the promo. And considering that you're the one that made the initial statement that they were requiring the spamming, I fail to see why I'm the one they take umbrage with.

amok: please... point to the point in that post where it says you need to spam 10 friends...
avatar
amok: Edit - You no longer need to invite 10 friends to get the bundle, only sign up through, and like them in Facebook.
There you go. You accuse them of having required spam invitations. Call them what you will, but they're still unsolicited commercial messages. Hopefully people had the sense to only send them to people that might be interested, but they still fit the usual definition of spam.

What are the chances of these games appearing on a Groupees bundle?

I have no idea. I will say that the dev isn't very smart if they bundle BotW again soon. Its a VERY recent release on Steam.. Came out on Oct 28th. I can't remember if BotW was on Groupees Greenlight Collection page, but it might've been. They removed all the greenlit games from the page.

I'm not even sure they have released the DRM-free version of the game yet. I actually sent them an e-mail about it. I found the Humble widget, but it still lists the game as "coming soon" in the description.

Yeah, you're right... thank you.
But hopefully, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet will be again... and soon.

presuming you mean they created an account to specifically thank skeletonbow, they did.
I know this as I alerted them to the content of his post and linked it, and also got a reply thanking me for doing so.

If anything, I 'accuse' them of not needing to spam 10 friends there :)

But no worries, I understand, you made a mistake, and instead admitting you did so, it is so much easier to blame everyone else. But enough about that. You never will anyway.

edit - but I edited the OP now. Let me know if there is still something you do not understand, and I will do my best to explain them for you.

Now excuse me, I have a lot of older posts to edit to reflect what is happening today. First of all, I think I must dig out all the Indie Royale threads and edit them to reflect the bundle being sold now.... and Humble. I think I also got several threads of games in progress which is also no longer correct... sigh... no sleep again tonight.

This passage is hilarious if you imagine it being spoken in the voice of GLaDOS.

I should note that I had written them a message privately a few hours prior in the day to let them know about the problem and give a heads up before posting here. I wanted to let people know how to work around it to protect their game libraries, but to give bundlestars a bit of a heads up too. :) Not sure if they found out first via my support submission or via you copying them from here but either way it got fixed really quick which is great. In my experience of reporting such issues to other companies you are lucky if they ever even respond to you let alone fix the problem and let alone thank you for it, so it is nice to get a speedy fix and expression of gratitude for sure. :)

What is more normal is for a website to not respond, or if they do, to downplay a security issue or sweep it under the carpet or claim their security "experts" are highly skilled blah blah and discount such reports because it "creates more work" and whatnot. :) Companies that respond promptly to fix such things are unfortunately rare so I am always happy to see when one takes such issues seriously and fixes things right away. Now if we could get the rest of the Internet to catch on... :)

If anyone else is interested at all in just how secure "secure" websites are these days, about half of them have one or more known SSL related security vulnerabilities or issues in their web server configurations or are just using outdated insecure software. Check out SSL Pulse at https://www.trustworthyinternet.org/ssl-pulse/ and punch in your bank's secure online banking site, or various online retailers or other services that claim to be "secure". The results are often shocking to find out they're really Swiss cheese. :) If you try to report the problems to most of them, you'll be given a line read out of a manual trumpeting their use of encryption and blah blah to protect customers yada yada and not be taken seriously. :o)

It's a rather sad state of affairs alas, but it's nice when someone takes you seriously and fixes things too! :)

amok: THIS POST IS EDITED BY POPULAR DEMAND!

Bundle Stars is a games key and bundle seller. It has been so for about 1 year now, when this post is written in December 2013. Please note that it does not require Facebook, nor does it require you to spam friends. All it requires is that you are willing to pay monies. In its alpha stage they experimented with a model where Facebook was required, but after feedback this was changed. The alpha experiment is not the final service. So please bear in mind that what was tried during a alpha and beta trials 1 year ago is not the same as it is today. That is what alpha's and beta's are for.

DO NOT HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE FOR TESTING OUT THINGS YEARS AFTER THE TEST ENDED! ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE RESPONDED TO FEEDBACK AND CHANGED ACCORDING TO THE TESTS. JUDGE A SERVICE BY WHAT IT IS COMING OUT OF THE SAID TRIALS! IF YOU CAN NOT BE BOTHERED TO FIND OUT HOW THE SERVICE IS AFTER SAID TRIALS, THEN PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR PERCEPTIONS WILL MOST LIKELY NOT HAVE MUCH IN COMMON WITH THE ACTUAL FUNCTIONALITY OF SAID SERVICE!
Of course we should hold people accountable for what they do. The web has a very long memory and it's rather naive to think that information just disappears.

Anyways, I've edited the remaining posts even though they didn't bother to demand you take your allegation down. A politely worded note would have seen this thread finished a week or so ago.
