I've made a similar reuqest on Steam and Gametap but for that particular era, Bullfrog made some of the greatest PC games. Syndicate and Syndicate Wars are to this day still some of my favorite games. Dungeon Keeper 2 is still high on my list of games that I replay when I get a nostalgic itch. Theme Hospital and Theme Park were two awesome alternatives to SimCity and were humerous to boot.
I know that EA is a fuddy-duddy with their classic games and it's a shame. With all the companies they inhaled (Origin, Bullfrog, Novalogic, etc) there are some timeless classics that old school gamers still love to play. I could sit here and pine about Microprose (long ago consumed by a flavor of Atari), Sir-Tech, Accolade, New World Computing (now Ubisoft) and classic Lucasarts (DOTT anyone? Full Throttle? Grim Fandango? The Dig?) and how awesome it would be to have all of those games but Bullfrog has a special place in my heart. I'm sure I'm not alone.
As much as I would like it, I doubt we are going to get any Lucasarts games. I just don't see them allowing it. They seem to be extremely protective of their prooperties. Same with EA I think. Even though it would probably be more income for them.
I don't see the harm is allowing peole to buy old DOS games that these companies are doing nothing with. To reject it seems to be idiotic really, but some companies are rather stupid in the way they act.
Some of my fondest memories are of playing Populous: The Beginning. That was awesome, I never could get past the level where you had to get to the enemy shaman and stop them casting the angel of death spell though.
A group of old Bullfrog employees founded Mucky Foot, which made the awesome Startopia which I still play today.
I wholeheartedly back this, for Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds is my personal fourth greatest game of all time. More people need to experience the joy that is Magic Carpet. Dungeon Keeper was also one of the few RTSs that I actually liked. You also mention Origin, and if they hopped onboard, I could get a bit more acquainted with the Ultima series of RPGs.
Good luck prying such games from the hands on EA, though, particularly due to their insistence on draconian DRM for modern games like Mass Effect and especially Spore (on whose forums which you can't discuss the DRM anymore, and if you do, you get banned to the point where you not only lose access to the forums, but you LOSE ACCESS TO THE GAME!). I remember reading an article with GOG.com having difficulties with having other publishers allow their games to be hosted here due to the DRM-free requirement.

don't throw in the towel so quickly, this site is only in beta. Once it goes full fledged and every one goes 'lol GoG.com werks!' then I'm sure a number of developers/publishers would be willing to relinquish rights of older games to be sold through this service. It can only get better from here.
ah populos one of the really great games for the 16 bit computers that and powermonger. Loved them both would love to see them again.

Lets just say I am pessimistic. EA and Lucasarts really take their intelectual property very seriously. Too seriously in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong either, I hope both hop on board because both have some great old games. I would be very happy if we were able to buy some of their old games.

I don't think seriously is the exact word... maybe overzealous :3

Lucasarts and *spit* EA are hardly going to share any potential monetary windfall with a 3rd party site like GoG as they are just too damn greedy. They will no doubt have people keeping an eye on how things go here and see just how popular the site becomes and how much income it's liable to make, and then promptly decide to do their own version of the website to keep 100% of the profit to themselves.
Harsh? But probably true.

Hi-Octane! Oh my God! I haven't played that in aaageees.
That was so awesome.
I would also love to see the old Bullfrog classics here. Theme Hospital and so on.
And especially Dungeon Keeper.
So yeah, GoG.com, please nag to EA about getting a hold of their old games. ;)
