I didn't have any trouble activating, though it was a pain in the ass.

And I will also say that despite the game having some annoying console port issues like bad menu navigation and a forced 16:9 viewing area it is still a fucking awesome game that plays well and looks amazing on PC (much better than consoles).

So... I'm still glad I got the PC version :)

predcon: So how exactly do I forward ports?
It varies depending on your model of router. You'll have to open the web interface and there'll likely be a page called something like applications & gaming (at least thats what the linksys/cisco ones have) or port forwarding (pretty sure netgear & dlink use that).

You'll have to input the ports and then point them to whatever your PCs IP address is

This should tell you what you need: http://portforward.com/

I assume this isn't what you meant by forwarding ports? (See attached image) I say that because it didn't allow the ZDP to connect.

@StingingVelvet
I'm no stranger to strange menus, and 16:9 is perfect for my monitor. I was actually pretty excited about getting this game, up until the point this thing happened. I think People Can Fly is a great studio, and the concept of a First Person "Skill"Shooter plays right into my knack for trick shots. I'm sure that if I could actually activate the damn thing, I'd love it.

Thats exactly it, bugger

s bansama said, dead rising 2 had the same problem, weirdly enough some people have reported that the solution is to hit enter instead of trying to use the mouse, it sounds stupid but might be worth a go. Other people reported success copying a friends exe

Weird thought, you've not installed in program files have you? As I understand the ZDPP bollocks, it changes the EXE to let you run it, maybe win7's aggressive protection of program files is the issue

Virama: Really? =\

I NEED subtitles...

TheCheese33: Trust me, you don't want to read the stupid pouring out of the character's mouths. Ignorance truly is bliss. The story is more forgettable than Angry Birds.
isn't that the whole point of the game?
Bulletstorm is interesting at the moment, as It has divided the community.

If anyone is following Gamasutra, they did a [piece] on video game ethics based on Bullestorm in the end of January - with the comments having some interest ( Adrian Chmielarz, the founder of People Can Fly, is defending the game in there)

It is so far getting good critiques and reception, I have not tried it yet so I can not comment. However it looks like this game are setting some sort of proceeding, not sure which ones yet though...

So, I should install it to "D:\Bulletstorm"? I tried pressing the Enter key instead of clicking Continue, because that was one of the things the guy on the GFWL tech support line told me to do, and it didn't work. After much "troubleshooting", he said he'd have someone who was a "specialist" for this particular game call me later today.

[EDIT]
Well, installing to "D:\Bulletstorm" didn't work. Neither did going directly to the ZDP executable and running it.

I spoke with a GFWL tech support guy, and he directed me to create a new account on Windows 7 (name it "testadmin" for this purpose) and give it Administrator status. After logging into this "testadmin" account, and running the ZDP tool, it connected to the Internet perfectly, which, according to the tech guy, was indicative of a major DNS lookup error in the account I was using previously. He instructed me to perform a DNS flush, the instructions for which can be found here.

TheCheese33: If you do get it to work, it will continue to suck until you hit mute and scratch the subtitles.
What? With such dialog witticisms as "dick-tits" and the like? How could you not love it? This was a game were two designers argued for weeks over the size of one of the female character's rack. As I said in another post, it's not exactly going to be a Homeric epic.

Nice to see CliffyB pissing on the PC community again with a shoddy console port. At least Gears on PC had the decency to be well ported and add extra content, Epic won't even bother to do that anymore.
Cliffy forgets where his roots are. ;) It always guts me when folks that got their feet wet in the business with PCs eventually gnaw off the hand that fed them.

I haven't installed BulletStorm yet, been too busy with the DA2 demo and generally wanting to light my computer on fire. :P I don't really know if I'll get a chance to give it a shot in between playing Awakening and waiting for the DA2 release date. If anything maybe in the time I'm not playing it they'll patch stuff with the game. I'm not a fan of GFWL, it's half the reason I barely gave FO3 a shot. I'm not a fan of having to fight with games I spent my money on in order to actually play them (and the fact that PC BulletStorm is sold for the same amount as console BulletStorm. This is a trend I am starting to hate).

I guess he didn't really gnaw hard enough because most of the people in this thread seem to have bought an unreviewed and un-demoed game from him already...

Lies! Filthy lies! No one bought Bulletstorm on the PC you all pirated it, that's the reason you will get one patch, no DLC and the sequel will be console exclusive.

I do apologize... it seems I was possesed by the spirit of Cliffy B there for a moment.

People Can Fly developed this, not Epic, and it's actually a pretty great PC game, some minor issues aside.

Hmm, was Epic their publisher? I thought it was more than just their engine involved.

I believe Epic bought People can Fly, so they publish their games.
