Me and a couple of my friends are currently competing to see who can make a gaming computer for the cheapest amount of money so far i've spent 10 dollars and i have:

-Dell tower i found in a dumpster

-2 gigs of ram

-A sound card audiology 2004

-An Athlon 64 2x processor

i'm still lacking some keen essentials like a graphics card and a functioning monitor but any suggestions as to get parts cheap would be appreciated and if you want to compete then post your specs and how much you payed for them and maybe attach a picture

You should check craigslist and see if anyone is giving away PC parts or selling them for dirt cheap. You are probably going to have to lowball people on craigslist though to get dirt cheap prices because I noticed a lot of people there ask too much for their stuff.

You also might want to check and see if there are any swap meets around where you live. Flea markets and swap meets can be fantastic for picking up old parts that still work. Kind of hit and miss though.
