As much love as I have for the parent show, Angel was just so much more deep and involved than Buffy. Although its hard to touch seasons 2 and 5 of Buffy, season 5 of Angel is the greatest thing ever, period.
Here lies Buffy Summers. Again.
She saved the world. A lot.
Want to have a real laugh at it? Go find the original movie with Kristy Swanson and Rutger Hauauauauauauauer :P
It's terrible. No redeemable features. At all.

I agree. 'Tis a blemish on Joss Whedon's otherwise stellar career (Alien Ressurection aside)
this is just like voting for a school mascot
and by that I mean, picking between a giant douche and a shit sandwich.
Angel was more fun to watch since my mom would start to go into a frenzy when he came on screen, yet Buffy was hotter...maybe since I was 8 that was why...Tie for me.

I am inclined to agree... except I'm not sure that I know what or who this is all about.

So you're saying Dollhouse is good? From what everyone tells me, people were only watching out of obligation, because they enjoyed Buffy and Angel so much. I'm starting to think most people like Joss Whedon for something a crew member out of the spotlight made so great.

Dollhouse ROCKS!!! You have to watch the whole thing, but when you finish S1, the awesomness settles in like a cool roommate and you remember why you built that Joss Whedon idol in your back yard. God, that man is the greatest person ever!
I never really got in to Dollhouse...gave up after a few episodes. A friend tells me it actually got good at a certain point, but I'm fairly meh on jumping back in to catch up.
As for Angel vs. Buffy...I'd vote Buffy. Angel's 5th season was terrific, but it was a much more uneven show over its length than Buffy was.

You didn't say I was wrong, you just mounted a personal attack on me. I mounted an attack on the subject matter.
Well, if I had to choose one, I'd choose Buffy.
I think Buffy overall offered a bit more than Angel, with brilliant episodes like Hush, Restless, Once Again With More Feeling, The Body, Normal Again, etc.
But still, I'd say to watch both of them. Both are excellent shows, that have a really good narrative, with it's own mythology and great characters.
I think the Fred/Illyria storyline of S5 of Angel is the greatest and most emotional thing of all time (books, movies, games, music, real life). Plus, Illyria is the coolest thing ever! Although, Buffy had better singular episodes (The Gift being the best of the bunch if you ask me). Nothing tops "Please, Wesley, why can't I stay". God I cried so HARD!
Angel by far.
I quite liked Dollhouse, really. Bit pretentious, perhaps. Second season is pretty good as well.
As for the original question, I have been forced to watch the entire buffy AND angel series by my girlfriend, and I think I suffered less during the angel episodes. Surprisingly, in the end it was a whole lot less whiny than buffy.
