Anyone else get this game? I was really, really looking forward to it and bought it when it came out, which I never do except for Final Fantasy (or Former FF6-9 team games) or Castlevania.
Sweet Jesus, the gameplay is terrible. It's like the developers of Overlord smoked crack and designed a game.
I can't believe this is Shafer. The story and character designs are awesome, but egads, the gameplay is absolutely atrocious.
The hub doesn't even have a mini-map. I mean Jesus, the last game I played without an automap was probably a Silverbox game. I can't believe they released a modern game with a car and no mini-map.
It's the biggest disappointment for me since the American McGee game after Alice.

I am hearing nothing but bad things about it. Lots of genuine comedy but a crap game. Shame.
Jack Black lends his voice.
Need I say more?
Eh? I enjoyed it. Although I was kind of disappointed with the last part of the game, and how they seemed to have cut out a whole segment out with Doviculus.
All in all, I actually enjoyed it. But I felt that there was something missing.

Well, this was from the guy who gave us Psychonauts and Grim Fandango, both of which were made of awesome. I mean, I expected something at least good.

See, you did need to say more.

I respect Jack Black for legitimately being a FAN of heavy metal, but I have to say, I don't think metal needs, or wants him. I never liked Tenacious D, and the only film he ever did that I could stand was Nacho Libre.
Brutal Legend has a neat premise, but who wants to play a 3-D action-Adventure Zelda clone these days?

Depends...any Uber loot?
Anjohl,
It's actually a RTS-lite/downmarket Overlord knockoff when it comes to gameplay. Really not much like Zelda at all. The game is absolutely nothing like the ad campaign. It turns out it's mostly an RTS-lite game and it's really not that good at it.
Probably the most misleading campaign since Fable (I loved Fable, but the ad campaign made it out to be an expansive, open-ended RPG like Morrowind, when in reality it was a very good, 10 hour long adventure game).

And my friends laughed at me for choosing Uncharted 2 instead. WELL, WHO'S LAUGHING NOW? HAHAHAHAHAHA!
In all seriousness, though, I am really, really bummed about this game. I wanted it to be good, because Tim Schafer deserves a game that's both a critical and consumer darling after the awesome Psychonauts tanked, but this was the wrong title to do this. I mean, from what the interviews say, it sounds like the god-awful RTS gameplay was always the focus, but they got carried away and put everything else into it. I think it should've stayed as a pure RTS like this, so they would've had a small failure and went to work on something else that would've worked. Trouble is, they've hyped it for so long (I remember getting a Game Informer in 2006 that said Brutal Legend is coming and showed some concept art) that people have always expected it to be this good God of War clone, and then it stretched itself thin in so many directions.
If it were released a year or two ago, I probably would've picked it up no questions asked, because it's a Schafer game. However, my money's much tighter now, and I can't afford to buy something I don't think I'll enjoy. By the way, PS3 owners should definately get Uncharted 2. I'm not ready to call it the best game I've ever played, but let's just say it's a prime candidate.
Are you kidding? consoles are a terrible platform for RTS games, I'm waiting for the PC release.
I'm loving the game personally aside from the stage battles and even those wouldn't be so bad if the RTSey controls were decent. The sad but undeniable truth is that you cannot play an RTS effectively with a joystick

The sad but undeniable truth is you can't play God of War/RTS/Rhythm Game all at once!
