At best it might stop some really lazy people who only use PB. I'm not sure if I'm particularly worried, maybe a little but I'm not sure if it's quite slipping down the slope yet. After all it is not censorship, you can get this stuff through other means and legally.

Not really the first time something like this has happened. There have been other websites that provide links to other places that host pirated material. Difference being they got taken down and not just blocked.

It is censorship, the fact that you can circumvent it doesn't make it less of a censorship. By your definition nothing is censorship, because everything can be circumvented.

If find this really troubling. Because in this case a financial profit (which at least in Germany is no constitutional right) is held in higher regard than the freedom of speech (which is a core constitutional right just about everywhere).

When I speak of censorship I'm more thinking banning and and blocking material outright. Material being the works such as the films, tv programs, games etc. I was not thinking about the particular form of distribution itself, as the material, At least I think that's your train of thought. A particular form of distribution is been censored?

If that isn't your thought then I admit I'm totally lost and feel stupid.

Unless you are particular worried about people not being able to get hold of media and see the money wall itself as wrong to begin with and is censorship.

No. It is not a matter of which one is more legal than the other.

It's a matter of two things that contain both legal and illegal content. It doesn't matter if 90% of TPB use it in order to find illegal content. What matters to me is that I use it to download LEGAL content. Noone has the right to take this away from me.

First they took away my right to rent games.
After that they took my right to return games.
Now they take my right to pirate games so i can try it.
So if a new unknow franchise comes i dont buy it because i dont know if i like it.
So companies gonne make only games that are familiar to players and sell well.

I think the more worrying thing about it is how not really that horrifying it seems from day to day. But then books and other media tend to sensationalise things, reality is often more mundane and humans are quite good at adapting to cope with their current situation. I suppose the equivalent would be getting involved in an abusive relationship and not quite realising it, or at least just how bad it is, because it doesn't feel as bad as you might have been lead to expect. Particularly when it's a situation that isn't quite the most extreme of the examples.

Oh, if you want something to add to your list there;s also people that sit in front of cameras and shout at people when they litter through a speaker. I actually find it kind of funny, it's so ridiculous it actual does, or at least did, happen. It's something that should be in a satire really.

This isn't really new censorship. I'm pretty sure (it might just be civil action that can be taken) that unauthorised reproduction of copyrighted material has been criminal for a while in the UK. Assisting others in that has also been criminal.

So once the judge had decided that the pirate bay was doing that, he had no choice but to block it, the censorship was already in place. The main questions in the case were whether or not the pirate bay were knowingly involved in or facilitating piracy, and if so, who has the responsibility of enforcing this action (the ISPs didn't want to have to do it).

I don't think freedom of speech was ever considered a defence. That freedom hasn't existed for quite some time.
