As the title says PC version of the Xbox Arcade's addictive title Braid is coming to Steam on 31 March. Game's price will be $14.99. And the Steam version of Braid will also leverage Steamworks for integration of Achievements and Steam Community features. İt is great.

Well there aren't that much DRM free indy games so when there is one like Braid I am definetly not going to add a DRM just for the pleasure of it...
If it's DRM free on Impulse I will get it there.

I don't even care about DRM systems that don't want to bury themselves in my Windows version. For all I care a game is free to connect to the net and perform checks as long as
a) They tell me about it.
b) It doesn't try to tell me what I can or can't run while the checks are performed
c) It doesn't need any kind of special "client" software
d) It doesn't do it while the game is not running
e) It doesn't try to hide its checks with hidden background processes or bogus drivers.
f) A normal number of installs (as in 5 every half a year) is possible without contacting customer support.
g) There actually is customer support I can call for special cases
h) They don't try to make me pay for additional "privileges" like having the game installed on more than just 1 system at the time.
i) There's a reasonable fallback when checks cannot be performed because I'm not online (like: 10 more runs until you have to reauthenticate online)

Well it's actually on sale on the 360 this week for a third off so it's a damned good deal
Hans, 5 installs in 6 months isn't really that normal except for people like us who tinker & break things or think we can get a bit more speed out of a machine after a format.

Well, I usually have at least two OS per system and often two to three systems I work on at a time. I know this isn't exactly normal, but it's not so rare that I think it's an unreasonable thing to ask for. A lot of people I know go through at least two OS every sixth month (1x laptop, 1x desktop and that doesn't even count girlfriend's PCs or the standard windows reinstall every 4 to 8 months), and a bit of buffer is something that you should give to customers who are willing to put up with your restrictions.

oh I agree completely, hell at one stage I went through about 10 OS installs in a day when I was rebuilding & redesigning my network, I'd be out of luck if I had limited activations there

There will be no 3rd party DRM for Braid except Steam, I think. So you can install it forever.

I think that's a matter of personal opinion. Myself, I wouldn't want anything from Stardock anywhere near my PC.
As for the game itself, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. So I probably won't bother buying it unless it becomes a weekend deal with a discount of at least 50%.
