Hi guys so recently I just bought the Heroes 3 of Might and Magic Complete Edition and downloaded the game, but am unable to play it because I require the CD to play it. But since I downloaded it, I wont have a CD.

Was i scammed? :(

No, you were definitely not scammed. GOG is a perfectly legit business who takes excellent care of their customers.

Be patient, and your problem will be solved ;-)

Now first, have you contacted customer support?

Secondly, have you looked in the subforum for the Heroes of Might and Magic series, to see if others have had the same problem, and if so, if there is a known solution?

Yeah sorry to break it to you bro, but there goes your $9.99 :(

On a serious note, try reinstalling it. It shouldn't require a CD, but the cracked executable can be a bit off - unless I'm wrong and HOMM3 Complete doesn't use a crack. I'm quite positive it does though since my disc copy requires one to play without the CD.

It seems to be a rights issue. Have a look at this thread.
GOG is secure and legit, so you weren't scammed. Also, if there is something wrong, Support will fix you right away.

Definitely it could be a problem with the game. Try looking for a solution in its own forum, or try the above and below suggestions from others users.

Cheers :)

Variously, if you installed it to a folder other than Program Files, you probably wouldn't need to run it as admin. Either way, I'd recommend that you contact Support if you continue to have problems.

They're lonely over there. I'm sure they'd welcome the human contact. :P

This could be it. I forgot that not allowing administrator rights could lead to problems.
Even though GOG games are drm free, some of the games i have installed have had the no cd error message before the game boots up. It would be nice if games just load up without any of that.

Do you install outside of Program Files and run as Administrator?
Either always install games outside of program files and/or run the games as admin. :)

Why don't you do that big-American-corporation-motiviation-thing? You know, motiviation by mutual hugging and so on to ease the sense of loneliness?

Men-women mutual hugging, I hope?

Men on men hugging is simply awkward... :D

I second this solution (or variant thereof) - hugging works on most problems in life.
