Since I haven't given away a game for quite a while, today is as good a day as any! The reason for this title is that I have one game for you left over from the Insomnia sale: Papers, Please. This game is famous for its monotonous, repetitive task that continues to be fun and addictive in spite of that. It was even covered by the BBC: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-26527109

If you want the game, let your post here include two things: 1) state clearly that you're in; and 2) think about a game or a certain feature of games that you found entertaining despite the fact that they're objectively boring or that most other players found them dull, and tell me about it in no more than a few lines!

For example, I sometimes enjoy simple Fedex quests or very mundane tasks. I'm sometimes also in the mood for some grinding with very low-level characters.

This giveaway will be open for three days, until sometime Wednesday morning GMT. The winner will be selected randomly. So post your contributions!

EDIT: Random.org has spoken! The winner is post #19 – dedoporno! Congrats to the winner and thanks to everyone!

Thanks, I'm in.

I think of Spelunky daily challenges, I saw this from a friend who didn't like it, but I thought it was great to increase playing value of the game.
I am in please. This really does sound like a unique game.

I found that while playing Arcanum I spent a lot of time in the inventory screen especially organizing ask those technologist crafting ingredients. But I looked it. Ago that fiddling about that any good designer would streamline right out of existence just pleased me to no end.

Cheers
I'm in, thanks.

Boring games which I like? Mm.. maybe Mastermind, Kakuro and a bit Chess (even if I'm shit at it).

Ah, I like organizing my inventory in RPGs too.. sometimes too much XD

I'm in.

Fishing in World of Warcraft. First skill that I leveled up with each expansion, back when I played.
Thanks I'm in!
Farming souls in Demon/Dark souls is boring and repetitive... but I enjoy it!

Some people can't stand random battles in JRPG, particularly when they happen every 30 seconds. I'm fine with them, it doesn't really bother me and actually I can enjoy them.
Not in but thanks for the giveaway!
Not in, but thanks anyways! :-)

Myself, I got pretty far in a obscure gem that has #32 place in the worst game of all time list. Yes, it was a bit tedious, but for some reason I played it far longer than I played DOOM. And it was the censored version I had.

Another game that deserves mention for its self-aware pointlessness is the awesome LITTLE INFERNO.

and even though I usually don't play MMOs I try to pick those with lots of stuff to do when i do play them. So i had a lot of fun with trading stuff all over the globe in Voyage century, like half an hour of sailing from Athens to Osaka, no fighting involved. Same goes for fishing, planting veggies and so on while all the other players were running around fighting mobs or each other.

I really enjoyed hiking in Morrowind. Even when it took ages to get anywhere on foot.
I'm in, and thanks.

I don't play a lot of MMOs because overall I don't find them very interesting - repetitive, inflexible, and without the exciting details that usually make good games so much fun. But I do like exploring the game world, and so I often like Fedex quests. They're boring when they happen pointlessly in places that are already known, but when they send you out to find things in new territory, I really enjoy checking out the landscape.
Not in.

I liked the planet scanning minigame in Mass Effect 2. A lot of people seem to find it tedious and really hate it.

Oh I hate all those non-skippable things in JRPGs!
Like the super long sequences for summons, some in-game cutscenes that you have to repeat, the useless random encounters with low level monsters..

I'm sure I'm not unique in this, but I love character creation in RPGs. I will spend hours and hours looking over all the options, even pre-planning what I would like on paper (based on the manual or previous experience) before I even launch the game! This especially applies to 'old favourites', I'll often pre-plan new builds I haven't tried before.

Thanks Charon121!
