Metro09: Overall (given the prospect of future support and DLC) I think this is fun and worthwhile game so long as you know one or more people who will be playing it, too. I don't know if I'd subject myself to strictly solo play and/or playing with random people online.

I had a blast playing Borderlands (PC) as a single-player game myself.
I do wish there were say audio logs, video logs, written logs littered in the gameworld to add more flavor and story to the game.
I've been playing this a bit lately, borrowed. I'm at New Haven and up to level 23 or so as a soldier. It's pretty fun, and a nice breath of fresh air into a genre (hack-and-slash looters) where pretty much every game plays exactly the same. I'd have liked more effort put into the quests and the backdrop of the world, and the humor is occasionally irritating (e.g. absolutely everything Claptrap does or says), but it's fun to just start it up and shoot guys in the face, which is pretty much what I was hoping for. I haven't found any particularly strange weapons yet, but I do have a rocket launcher that fires three rockets at once in a spiral pattern, which I rather like.
Mad Mel was a pain in the ass, though.

If you've beaten the game, I just wish that we could actually fight and kill that boss that shows up in the "boss picture" at the end right before the credits, but that you can't actually fight. (Yes I'm trying not to spoil anything, but anyone that's seen it should know what I'm talking about)

That is to tease us for a sequel/DLC. And honestly, I thought it was mostly just another joke. Sort of a jab at how every game feels the need to show an even more sinister foe to set up a sequel.
Sidenote: Is the game any different for the different classes? I played as Lilith my first time through and noticed nothing "plot" related (no mention of Sirens). But Roland's "plot" might actually be affected by the main plot. Or is it just generic background fluff?

The problem is through the whole game I WANTED to kill him! Then they tease me with the chance and snatch it away? <pout>
As for the other characters, no plot changes. Just how they play.

Ending is disappoint :< The Vault is a lie and all that.

Now, here's my take on Borderlands' Ending
***SPOILERS***
Yeah, that's the point exactly - the whole game gives you here-say that there's treasures in The Vault. So, when you get there, you find...a big blob named The Destroyer, which is an invincible monster in another world. So, since we're on Pandora and The Vault you could say is Pandora's Box - maybe The Destroyer could be considered a weapon?
IMHO, I think The Destroyer was the "weapon" and we were NOT supposed to destroy - and we'll all pay for it...as I think The Guardian Angel (GA) seems to NOT be such an Angel, as the end reveals w/ her using Claptraps to play basically "Big Brother" with. I find it odd the GA basically levels a full-scale war w/ The Crimson Lance and Atlas Corp, as well. I would not be surprised if The GA probably might be looking to take over Pandora, in future Borderlands games...

The Cake is a lie........ :)
Borderlands is a game where you play once, play the 2nd playthrough and find it boring, then never play again. And I played beginning to end with my brother and best friend both sitting next to me on LAN, I was Brick and they were Soldier and Sniper. It was fun as hell once, 2nd playthrough was I repeat boring and we all gave up before we even got the the last boss again. We all got a total of 60 hours out of it counting all the sidequests we could find before we ditched the game.
To be honest that's not bad, 60 hours. Sadly all 3 times I tried to play again I would stop in a few hours. Just so, meh. Repetitive. The game is only good once. I play Space Empires 4 more over a period of time because it's random, I even gave Diablo 2 more time than Borderlands. These games have random elements missing from Borderlands. Only thing random in Borderlands is gun spawns, otherwise it's so the same you get bored.
So if you buy the game go in knowing it's a one time playthrough. You play it alone you get a little enjoyment once, and won't enjoy it again. You play it with others like I did, it's an extreme blast one time through and worth that one playthrough.
Major issue I have with it is that a lot of things aren't fixed, and the official forums are filled with fanboys who refuse to let anyone with a dissenting word in, which means the issues still plaguing the game, such as rocket hit detection, will likely never be fixed.

I am not talking about these videos. I just searched for them while I writing that post, I am talking about her in game voice and it is so hot, Lilith also so hot. I just wanted to show alexei_net these videos.

To be honest that first video before they edited if for game is really creepy. That chick is staring really odd and she just has that look of creepiness if she's just staring. I'd still take her on if I met her in real life.
EDIT: Quoting you and myself at same time just pooched the quote system again though I finally won and got my post to look right.
