ErekoseDM: what day is this 500th Booby-tastic release slated to occur?
avatar
mcneil_1: I would say Thursday (2 games on Tuesday to 498 & 499) so number 500 on Thursday.

thanks for the info

these last 3 releases have caught me off guard, im still on the alert of the holidays with everyday having something going on somewhere.

havent quite recalibrated yet.

is wednesday the new sale day or is wednesday just a regular day on GOG.

HeDanny: Taking into consideration community chatter, "Booby Trap" makes a LOT of sense if referring to Bard's Tale. Considering recent'y a fair few of us have been haveing a great laugh over the booby trap on the official site for the game, along with all the other great stuff on there.

No, seriously, there is a literal booby trap on the official site. A boob that is a trap.
i have fallen for said trap as well.
^_^
and not a platformer.
this seems like the best logical guess.

If that is the case then there is going to be alot of disappointed people since alot of people here have their hopes on something special for the 500th game and while Bards tale is really funny and fun, it's also a game alot of us already gotten elsewhere especially since they gave it away as part of the Wasteland 2 kickstarter. Not saying that it shouldn't be here mind you just that I think it would be a pretty weak title to have as number 500 especially since I recall them saying it was going to be something special.

jefequeso: I'm guessing DRM-free boobs.
Sounds exquisite!

Gazoinks: Which are a trap.
Dammit.
The clue is really cryptic. I'm stumped.
If it isn't Eryi’s Action, then the clue is a huge let down.

Don't they normally build expectations above and beyond what is actually released, though? People get really hyped and then go 'That's it?!' over every other promo, or so it seems. =/

It would be very disappointing to make a game that everybody have (or could obtained for like $1,5) a special release.

Gimme games that are not easily bought everywhere else!

I think there are very few games that can live up to the hype, and even it it were one the best games of a genre, there will still be many people who are disappointed because it's not their preferred genre. If it's a newer game, people will accuse GOG of loosing their focus, but if it's an older game, chances are higher that more people will already have it. The best chance GOG has at pleasing the most people would be to release one of those rare games that have all sorts licensing issues, which I doubt will happen, but it's best to keep expectations low and be pleasantly surprised if it does.

Or release one of the gazillion of Sierra or EA games that are a possibility, but are not released here for whatever reason...

(someone made a good point - we had to wait several years for Torin' Passage, just because GOG's release schedule is what it is)

Well, nevertheless, it's better not be Bard's Tale -.-
LOL@ thread. :P
If #500 ends up being Bard's Tale, it's not hard to predict there'll be major disappointment. As others have said, the game has been on sale on Steam and offered as a reward for backing Wasteland KS. Although there are also those who won't buy it anywhere but here, the majority of people who wanted it probably have it already.

So, what other things can GOG announce to appeal the fanbase? Maybe another wave of missing expansions and Mac versions. A couple of coming-soon releases to pre-order would be nice. Aside of that, I don't expect any big announcement just yet. They'll probably save a new publisher for the next Conference (Feb 5th?).
Fargo recently announced that Bard's Tale is coming to GOG soon, so along with that booby trap, I'm ready to bet.

lol no matter what they released chances are a group of people would be upset.

Unless it was System Shock or something...
