No, it's not a shotgun. It's a bazooka.

Ah, I see, very sensitive and prone to going off early.
By the way, the installer wants to install by default under Program Files, just like GOG installers did earlier. Wasn't that considered a no-no, in case you want to change something in the game directory yourself manually (like the sound settings from the awful default Adlib OPL-2 music, to Roland Sound Canvas)?

Anyways, I changed the installer directory by old habit to point to C:\Games\... instead.

Up until relatively recently they all did that. Anything released from Win 95 up until probably Vista did that.
Hmm, apparently this version is missing the setup.exe to change the music soundcard? :(

EDIT: Now I am totally confused. When I first installed and played this Blizzard Classics version, it seemed to be playing the inferior Adlib FM-synthesis music.

Then I played a bit with my separate Blackthorne which is running in my local DOSBox installation, playing it with General MIDI. Now when I afterwards play the Blizzard Classics version, it suddenly seems to play General MIDI music too?

Can anyone confirm if this version Blizzard Classics version is playing General MIDI music for them by default? I think it may be playing General MIDI by default after all, which is goooood.

No Blackthorne :( Guess it's because I'm not from the US. I did enter my account from the US link ...

Didn't this direct link earlier in this thread work for you?

https://us.battle.net/account/download/?show=classic

That's where I got it, just clicked on the Windows logo and got the installer, without logging into any account or anything.

I don't think it's US-exclusive, seeing as the OP is from the UK and other people from Europe seem to have downloaded it too.

I get a nice GM in-game music in Blackthorne

Why Blizzard give away sth they could sell here ? Not that I'm complaining but still .....

That worked ! I don't know why it didn't before, but it works now !
Just download Blackthorne. Never played it, but it looks cool.

That's actually a good point. I for one would pay for a game like Blackthorn. For a game like Lost Vikings I'd pay A LOT. I hope we don't screw this up. :P
