Well, I just wrote a long and passionate post only to find I had lost connection to the internet, right after I clicked on "Post My Message". Needless to say, I didn't save the content of my post ...

So let's just say I agree with you, the Blackwell games are worth getting if you enjoy adventure games (not necessarily for the gameplay, but definitely for the stories and writing, and the enjoyable challenge level that doesn't require you to consult walkthroughs).
They're okay. They're no Lucasarts or Sierra classics, that's for sure.
indie games are often very short and easy and mediocre.
this seems kinda decent though.

Well, you have to put things in perspective and judge them for what they are; so the comparison seems a little unfair to me. I haven't seen ANY adventures that were comparable to LucasArts (or maybe even Sierra), big budget AAA titles or one-man-indie-shows alike, regardless. That doesn't make anything else mediocre and uninteresting in my opinion. (But you are entitled to your own, of course. ;) )

Big budget:

Broken Sword
Toon Struck
Alien Incident

Indie:

Tales of Bingwood
They were enjoyable, but I thought that Gemini Rue (also published by Wadjet Eye, different writer) had a much more enjoyable story. Gemini Rue is one of my favorite adventure games ever.

PixelBoy: ~snip~
I like BS and Toon Struck, but for me, they would most probably lose out to the classic LucasArt adventures in a comparison. I admit I'm not that enthusiastic about all of Sierra's titles. They're mostly great but not completely without competition in my book.

Anyway, thanks for drawing my attention to Tales of Bingwood. I hadn't heard about that one yet and I'll make sure to add it to the Recommended Indie Games List soon. :)

It's unfair to the developer maybe, but for someone deciding what to spend their adventure game time on it needs to hold up to the best, and it doesn't.

I mean if you're an adventure game fan and play a lot of them then sure, Blackwell is pretty decent. For me though, I don't play enough adventure games to go that low down the list, if you get me.
just finished all the three games in the series , very good worth playing it
Looks interesting, just got it, thanks for the heads up!

Sure, if someone hasn't played the classics yet and/or isn't into adventure games that much, I very much agree, they might find other games more enjoyable or more worthy of their time. These games are by no means a must play for everyone. They're definitely worth the attention of real adventure game fans and veterans though (then again, most of them will probably know about the Blackwell series by now).

There are 4 games and I really enjoyed them, though I'm not a big player of the genre.
