I thought I'd ask for help here instead of registering at the black mesa site. At least for now.

I try to get the three files from gamefront.com. The 7z file. the setup exe, and the md5 file. I do that and put them all into one folder. When I launch the setup, I get the error code 2 message. So the only reason i could gather as to why I get this, is because the 7z file doesnt fully download. it's supposed to be a 3.1 gb file, but it always stops downloading around 2 gbs.

The same thing happens when i try different mirrors. I also searched for a fix and found nothing. error code 2 apparently is a common problem, but i cant find anything about the 7z file stopping halfway through and saying it's completed when its actually not.

Anyone have this problem with black mesa? Any way to fix it?

I'm not familiar with this particular download, but is it possible you have to unzip / extract the file / files in each download you pull? Maybe that's why it's a bit short in gbs? Or are you positive it's actually getting cut off during the download?

Sorry if I'm going overly simple here just thought I'd rule it out.

Nope, there's no need to extract anything. The .exe file is supposed to do that for you.

I see the progress of the download bar being around half full, telling me that theres about 40 minutes left. Then it just stops and says it's complete.

I looked at mine (which I downloaded more than year ago) and the .7z file is 3,07 GB big. So yours is not downloading properly. Maybe try using some download manager?

Could it be that your connection is just not stable enough?

Try the torrentlink on moddb.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/black-mesa/downloads/black-mesa-torrent

It is a large file and if you aren't using downloadmanagers there is a big chance the file ends up broken in a direct download, at least torrent has some download integrity checks.

How coincidental, I just installed this mod 3 days ago all by myself. And this is the first PC mod I ever installed :D
I'm installing the torrent right now. Also just installed utorrent. Hopefully it works. I'll post back with results. Thanks all
It downloaded successfully. Thank you all.
