Maxxer: I didnt get a mail, I have had and account to register NWN but a hour or 2 ago i noticed i could not log in to my EA account.

Seems like i got haxed O.o
Ive spoken to a few people that have accounts and havent got an email, is it the same email address then as to now?

I didn't get an email but I could still log in so changed my passwords anyway.

Pretty sure it was, Dont see why i would of used a different mail, The one i use a lot is my "game spam mail" For registering to games and stuff ect. Payments and other stuff done by a different mail

Dont believe it.

I think all those hacks in the same time line are just a little bit too convenient.

Why would an online service admit that they were hacked? It is the digital worst case scenario for an online service. Why scare consumers away with my own unsecure business practice.

Who is interested in enforcing harder internet security laws and limits? The government and the big internet companies.

What is the easiest way to get the public opinion on the side of internet restriction? Let as many people as possible feel the need of harder limits and restriction. So keep the internet security low for a while and let some unimportant internet services like game publisher and foreign internet services like Sony online be hacked. In the aftermath of this terrible desaster the politicans and business lobbies have all the arguments they need to enforce some really tasty new draconian internet laws and restrictions on all of us. Not only the hacker.

The idea of the internet was the free exchange of information between all of humanity (who can afford an internet access, so much for all humanity). It should stay free. Some internet services have been hacked. Who cares. My sony online account was hacked too. So what. I changed my password and lost nothing. And when my bank account would be hacked, it would hurt me but not enough to cry for more draconian internet laws. When i want to enjoy freedom i have to risk a little bit for it. The chance of being hacked is this risk i am happy to pay for a free internet with few restrictions.

E.G. 10 years prisons for a ddos attack on an internet business firm? I do not think that 2 hours of service denial is it worth to put someone 10 years for in prison. Sorry just my own little unimportant oppinion.

It probably wasn't just the "NWN" exclusive boards, but the set of boards that catered to users of classic BioWare games like MDK2, Jade Empire, that Sonic RPG for DS, etc. It was the board that had the really ass-backwards way of registering for the Bring Down the Sky expansion. These "classic" boards were later replaced by the "social.bioware.com" boards we use now.

The password change is universal, and affects all EA related accounts, so use it to sign in to the aforementioned "social.bioware.com" boards if in fact you use your linked EA account to sign in with.

great.. I got this email today as well... I dont think I had any important info other than my cd-keys. I wonder if all of this will mess up my old premium modules from loading... :-(

Interesting thought, seeing how they have to authenticate with the server. I doubt it thought. As for your CD keys, I believe in one of the dev posts on the social network, they said theCD keys were not compromised. I'll see if I can find a link to the post.

We also have conclusive evidence of which specific legacy account fields were potentially exposed: username, password, email address, date of birth, and country of origin. No CD keys, and again no financial info.

Might be but worth to spent a thought on. All new wisdom is achieved to thinking off mainstream. So have fun to call people who have their own opinion conspiracy theorists. Perhaps people like Galileo Galile , Nostradamus and Leonardo Da Vinci were conspiracy theorists too. I am nothing compared to those incredible history figures, but a little off the mainstream once in a while is fun and keeps my mind agile.

All new humour is also achieved by thinking outside the mainstream. And believing that EA , Sony, Bethesda etc are working with "the government" and "big internet companies" to restrict the internet is grade A comedy.

Don't worry, I went through the same "counter-culturist, pseudo-intellectual-philosopher" when I was your age, about fourteen or so. Eventually you'll grow up and stop being an asshole.

Just throwing it out there, but my email said the social and EA site were safe, it was only the old bioware site that got hacked.

I logged into Origin and BW's Social page without incident. Also, it goes without saying I never clicked the link in the email. Getting an email from a game master for something that is not game related just screams scam.

Hopefully you all have run malware cleaners and have manually gone to the social and origin sites and reset your pw's that way. Since I had a separate pw for the old Bioware site, I had nothing to reset, as the email clearly stated the old site was being taken down.

If it was a scam, you'd think we'd have gotten another email right on its heels from EA or Bioware warning us about it. Or more scam emails with similar wording, like the "Blizzard.NET" scam-mails.

I wasn't saying it was a scam, I was explaining why I did not click the link in the email and instead checked my passwords manually, as well as explaining the only site affected was the old NWN site.

Bad practice to use the same pw multiple times, yada yada yada. I even said "since I had separate passwords there was nothing for me to reset".

Sorry for the confusion, I'll go back to lurking now ;)
