I dont get why some people here are so serious about OPs post. Its clearly just a joke aimed to be some kind of protest against Biowares policies.

"You n'wah!" "Die, fetcher!" and "Filthy swit!" are indelibly ingrained in my mind. Fortunately I've never cursed at anyone in person with them... yet...

Bioware is based in Edmonton, so judging by the voting pattern of their province (at least at a federal level), they'd most likely dip more toward Fascism than Stalinist Communist (in terms of which flavor of totalitarianism they would most likely associate with if they had such inclinations).
So, a comparison with the Third Reich (minus the whole Jewish angle) or Italy around that time might be more appropriate than North Korea.
This might seems a trivial thing, but as someone who has socialist tendencies, I do feel urged to point out that communism doesn't have a monopoly on totalitarianism.

And in any case, it's a privately run and owned forum. If there really is a legitimate problem with the moderation guidelines/system they can just split off and make their own forum. I've seen it happen before, and successfully too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
2. @Gamerager I really think you need to let the whole "rep" thing go. You are someone who tends to very strongly state what you believe (which isn't always going to line up with what others believe). This isn't a criticism at all. Hell, it's how I tend to be as well (although I've gotten better at hiding it as I've gotten older). But it means that you have to accept that a lot of people are going to get their feathers ruffled, even if you don't think they have a right to. It doesn't mean that there's a conspiracy against you...just maybe that you've offended a lot of people. In this case, I can totally see why your posts got downrated. Doesn't mean I necessarily agree or disagree. But any hint of perceived pro-racism is going to get immediately pounced on by people. It's one of those "fad" offenses that everyone is obliged to feel strongly about. I don't think it's completely fair to call this evidence of foul play.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
3. And I agree that it's not possible to keep from offending everyone. Nor is it fair for people to expect that. But if you're anything like me (and I think you are), I suspect the problem isn't that you don't know what will offend people--it's that you get enjoyment and/or power out of offending them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Basically there may or may not be a group of people dedicated to keeping your rep in the negatives. But I don't think it's fair to blame your downreps on that, when your posts are pretty obviously something that isn't going to go down easily with a lot of people.
---------------------------------------------------------
5. Or have I completely misunderstood what is being discussed? (That happens a lot)
Please realize that this post itself is not intended to be offensive :3.
2. I don't care about rep mainly....I was just focusing on the possible ones downrating roman's post because they couldn't take a joke...not my own rep. And I know some might get their "feathers" ruffled at things, and I think they have a right to. I just don't mind calling them on it in a civil fashion if I think it's stupid for them to do so(IMHO). Again though, I was mainly calling people on downrating roman not myself this time.....just clearing that up.
3. I rarely do it if at all to get a laugh. Most times I simply don't care if people get offended.....now I don't try to purposefully offend and then not care if people get offended, but I post what's on my mind while trying to not offend if possible and then don't care if they get offended. I hope that's clear enough an explanation as I sometimes get my words messed up.
4. Again I was mainly upset at Roman being downrated not myself. Sorry if it looked like I was mainly talking about myself here.
5. I cleared it up above......hope it helps enlighten you as to what happened.
And no you didn't offend. :)

While I don't agree with all you wrote I thank you for your input. It is more appreciated to me than a simple slap in the face reply or quiet silence and no reply. :)

BTW answer my replies dangnabbit....I didn't write them for nothing ya know. :P
:)
I'm not sure I have anything much to say in reply to your other post :P. There's nothing there to argue with.
Well, I guess I could just restate that I think it was pretty obvious from the beginning that Roman's post was going to get downrepped. That sort of thing (a post that invites the ubiquitous emotionally charged response to perceived racism) doesn't survive for long (I'm actually surprised the initial response wasn't more aggressive).
And also, I don't think there's anything at all wrong with calling people out for things that you think are wrong. It's not an intrinsically bad thing. But also, I think it's important to realize that it isn't intrinsically GOOD either. Speaking your mind plainly and openly even if it might offend people...well, it very rarely changes anyone. When they get angry, most people will shut down any willingness they might have to admit that they're wrong. And admitting wrong is something that 99% of the population is never going to do, even if they're not extremely pissed off at the person they're arguing with. So in cases where you are actually trying to change someone's mind, the best approach is usually the gentle, cautious approach. Do everything you possibly can to make sure they feel like you're someone worth listening to, and not a threat. You know that whole routine they do in movies? Where a heated argument usually ends with some pithy, profound one-liner that leaves the other character dumfounded and speechless? Yeah... that never actually happens.
